Do you have any evidence to support this?

It can be argued that if the Storm didn't rate well in SEQ and Sydney then the broadcast rights might be significantly less. What it took to get the Storm where they are cannot be replicated in Perth. It's delusional to think a Perth-based team will sit inside the top four over its first 25 years with the best players from Queensland. It's just as delusional to think rugby league fans in SEQ will choose a Perth-based team over the Broncos, Dolphins, Titans and Cowboys. If we go back 25 years, the Cowboys were a joke and the Broncos were on the nose due to their involvement in Super League. Things are different now and Perth won't have any of those advantages.

This is all speculative and there's no evidence to back it up. It's just as bizarre as your claim that the only reason we don't have an NRL team in Perth is because the networks don't want to devalue Origin, and; the ARL and ARU must have a secret agreement in place to give the Force "space".

News Ltd axed Perth because they don't have a big stake in the Perth print media. In Melbourne they have a strong publication.

Ch7 and their network C7Sport held the AwFuL broadcast rights in 1998. Murdoch threw the kitchen sink at getting the AwFuL broadcast rights in 2002.

A Perth-based NRL team isn't going to make a dent in the Perth market. The war was lost 26 years ago. Eagles and Dockers are too big. Just ask @Perth Red. He'll tell you how massive the Eagles and Dockers are compared to the Broncos!

What makes you think a Perth-based NRL team can do what the mighty Broncos cannot?

This is just your opinion.

You don't have any evidence to support your opinion.

Sure for club 22 lol
If we make it to 20 by 32, I'd go...

18. Perth
19. NZ2
20. SEQ WC
21. Adelaide
22. PNG

Ridiculous sums of money from Albo and Sleepy Joe aside, I'd keep Adelaide for at least 15 years after Perth so we can let Perth develop their junior systems and start producing regular NRL players through their pathways before introducing another ''rusted on AFL'' city. Simply because I think with these forays outside of our heartland it will need a lot of focus and attention from the NRL to get it right.

PNG (again, in a world where the China money doesn't exist) I'd bring in well down the track after a couple of decades of development work on the pathways and to also give the country a chance to develop socially and economically a bit further.

There is no way this is true.

It's not. Carlton has non-AFL grant revenue, so even after taking that out (and assuming there is no related expenditure) they were more profitable than Brisbane.

Leave him in his little dream land lol
Eagles have $100mill in retained surpluses, Broncos $10mill. But Broncos are the most profitable club lol

Broncos werent even in top 3 last year. Collingwood and Carlton both had much greater revenues and net profits.

Collingwood's profit seems to be based on a govt grant, so no to them, but yes Carlton does beat them for profits.

Not really, they had a $17mill profit and a $12mill grant so a real profit of $5mill, more than Broncos $3.2mill.

You didn't provide any evidence to back up your claims. That makes them an opinion.

Put up or shut up.

Your opinion that Perth was a chance of getting the 17th licence turned out to be wrong

Your opinion that a BRL club wouldn't get an NRL licence turned out to be wrong.

Your opinion that the ARLC would never consider a third Brisbane team turned out to be wrong.

Your opinion that the broadcasters want a national footprint turned out to be wrong.

If there was any truth to your opinions then we'd have teams in Adelaide and Perth by now and zero talk about a third Brisbane team.

If there was no demand for a third Brisbane team then a) the Brisbane Tigers wouldn't be racing ahead with their bid and b) Head of Strategy WWOS wouldn't have said Ch9 wants another team in Queensland.

I suppose this is the point where you and your mates from Perth get catty and mock Simon Fordham because he doesn't endorse your opinion?

Afl is raping the west coast eagles to try and get the giants and suns successful

the eagles get 10 million in central grant whilst the lions suns and gws all get 28 million

and that’s on top of the eagles paying up to ten milllion pa to fund junior development in wa

afl is killing their actual clubs for zombie clubs

hmmmm lol
What’s with all the fake Perth fans discussing afl clubs

idiots including gaming revenue for fumbler clubs and then ignoring the money nrl clubs make from their gaming operations

Lordy me the trolls are getting worse

AwFuL clubs do have more members and draw twice as many fans to their games. This gives them more game day revenue. I wish our game had the same level of active fan support. I think part of the reason we have more inactive fans watching from home is because our game is perfect for TV. Fumbleball is a bastard of a game to watch from home. Plus fumbleball is a cult.

A fumble fan came on here and said it was because the tickets were cheap and so was the food and beer

it’s the opposite for nrl games

kids tickets are as cheap as four dollars

and the mcg, scg and optus stadium members would mean half the crowd get in for free

I am amazed by how little these "expansionists" care about the PNG proposal. The more I learn about the bid the more I hope it becomes true. If it takes Gov funding to make it work then that's okay. The joy it will bring to Papua New Guineans will be priceless. The buzz it will bring to the NRL every week will be priceless. The benefits it'll bring to the Kumals will be priceless. We're lucky to have a PM who likes out game.

I think their membership numbers are inflated by categories for pets and babies. We're slowly catching up to them on the membership front. They have had a membership culture for decades. It's relatively new to rugby league.

PNG will provide us with the most enthusiastic fans on Earth. It'll generally anger AwFuL fans to see our game getting all of this attention by the US and America. They'll probably demand a team on Nauru.

I didn't have any of those opinions though. You just get what people think will happen mixed up with what people think should happen, cause you're a moron who doesn't pick up on the nuances of debates.
