I'm not so sure. Another Wests tigers would be appealing as a future appointment.I'll honestly be shocked if many of the existing clubs want PNG... unless V'landys has promised them a cut of government money.

Wallabies were world champions with teams in Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney. Then they added teams to Melbourne and Perth. They're now a tier two team.
eh? Broncos revenue last year was $59.8millBroncos make that in half a year
if they got equal funding like nrl clubs do their profit would be 15 million
imagine the broncos get ten million less so duds like the storm or Perth can get ten million more
That’s such a good point about the aru and expanding into afl states killing them
Broncos made over a 3 million profit in six monthseh? Broncos revenue last year was $59.8mill
Theres a strong argument financial equalization is a good tool for having a more competitive competition. Not all clubs are equal, treating them s if they is dumb. Arguably what NRl has done, ie throw an extra $5mill each at every club regardless if they needed it or not is even worse of a waste of games money.
I mean this is pure bullshit.Melbourne have a stronger following outside of Victoria than inside it because News Ltd created a vacuum in SEQ when they killed the Chargers and Crushers.
Nope they made $3.2million profit for the year.Broncos made over a 3 million profit in six months
more than your beloved eagles did over a whole year
and yes rugby league clubs are better funded than afl because we don’t waste so much money on non heartland states for zero return
Nope, unless they are submitting false accounts lol Do you understand what pre tax means?
Turns out it’s almost six million half yearly profit
obviously the dolphins have helped rugby league in qld
Without the Storm the broadcast rights would be significantly less and the annual grant would be less. It really doesn't matter how many people in Melbourne are watching on 9gem or how many Victorian born players are in their squad. Melbourne is a 5 million people market and if the NRL didn't have them it would literally be a joke of a competition, it couldn't have the "N" in its title - 9 nor Fox wouldn't bid anywhere near as much. That is why News/NRL pumped so much money into them, they know how important it is. In Business and marketing perception is often more important than reality. You're only seeing what you want to see.
Melbourne have a stronger following outside of Victoria than inside it because News Ltd created a vacuum in SEQ when they killed the Chargers and Crushers. The Broncos were on the nose at the time because of their role in Super League. The Storm grew their supporter base in SEQ by recruiting heavily from the region. There's also a large Victorian expatriate community in SEQ. It was the perfect recipe for disenchanted fans in SEQ to adopt the Storm as their team.
A Perth-based team isn't going to have this sort of support in SEQ. You've deluded yourself into thinking they will. Take away Melbourne's support in SEQ and they wouldn't offer much.
Idiot talking about net profitNope, unless they are submitting false accounts lol Do you understand what pre tax means?
They made $3,233,336 last year profit.

Brisbane 3 isn't going to make a dent in AFL's growth, it is 20 years too late. It's great they have a pokie den that can chip in some money. There are pokie dens all over QLD though. There is no demand for a 3rd team yet, the public would be taken by surprise and it would struggle to gain traction. Some diehards would love it but you need more than a few thousand hardcore fans. Dolphins were mostly spot on with the brand and the timing was perfect. Tigers won't get the same reception.
I mean this is pure bullshit.
Unless your trying to claim that those that attend Storm home games are flying down from SEQ every 2nd weekend.
You need to pull your head out of your arse
its not profit when you have to pay some of it to the tax man lolIdiot talking about net profit

NRl isnt Rugby union, their problems wont be our problems. Their problems were due to the Super rugby comp losing SA and NZ dominance, coupled with rise of NRL. little to do with adding Perth or Melbourne to Super rugby.
In fact turning down a $60mil gift from twiggy to keep Perth in the comp was just one example of totally stupid management they have been blighted with. Long may it continue!
Well its worked out very nicely for AFL. their first two expansion clubs are now two of the biggest clubs in those markets and with adding two more they have now hit record levels of revenue.
And Perth has had a RL competion for 75 years. Your point being?
Swans and Lions have bigger crowds and memberships than nearly every heartland NRl club.
Our only new amrlet club ahs bigger crowds and membership than most NRL heatrland clubs.
You dont think sponsors and media are attracted to a code with a 5 metro city reach? Clearly their revenue suggests differently
What taxes do they pay ?its not profit when you have to pay some of it to the tax man lol
They made $3,233,336 last year profit. Thats actual, real, money in the bank profit.
You're the one who said Polynesians and Melanesians aren't suited to fumbleball.Thats very racist of you!
They also axed Brisbane2.This is not true.
The quality of the Brisbane and Sydney competitions suffered when they lost players to Melbourne and Perth. The weaker competitions created a lower calibre of player who wasn't hardened enough to play against New Zealanders and South Africans. Fans tuned out because it became boring.
The problems with Australian RU is the decline in player depth. All of it stems back to the ARU weakening its core competitions in Brisbane and Sydney.
No one wants to watch a team that is hopeless.
Lions are not a financial powerhouse. They've come close to going under within the last 15 years. If it wasn't for the variable funding scheme they might be history.
It never produced as many quality players as the QAFL did for the VFL.
An Ipswich team beat Essendon in the 19th century.
Storm have lower crowds and memberships than every heartland AwFuL club.
???????
If that were true then they would have told the ARLC to prioritise Adelaide and Melbourne in 1998. News Ltd held a 50% stake in the game at the time. They chose to axe Adelaide and Perth.
Sigh, they pay a tax on the profit and other areas or revenue that get taxed. So that pre tax profit is in reality $3.2mill in the bank when the tax man takes his share. Eagles achieved $3.6mill profit after tax. Keep scrambling though its very funny. What taxes do they pay ?
broncos will make 6 million this year with no games at the gaba
