Easts know they are way down the list so soon after the dolphins admission. Partnering with PNG confirms this. They'd be smarter to be Perths feeder club and keep relevance for about a decade.
Easts stronger bid than perth

They're gambling on being able to take control of the license once the inevitable happens and the funding for a PNG side runs dry.Easts know they are way down the list so soon after the dolphins admission. I can't see either PNG's or Easts fans getting behind it. Who in brissy would go for a PNG club? It won't be called either brisbane or tigers. They're gambling on being able to take control of the license once the inevitable happens and the funding for a PNG side runs dry.
In some ways something like this is probably the smartest way of attempting a PNG side, as that way you have a built in plan B for when the inevitable happens and everything turns to shit, but it's also a double edged sword because it's the most tokenistic way to run a "PNG side" and shows how little faith there is in the concept. I mean it'd be a joke for a "Papuan" side to play half their home games out of Brisbane...
png threadThe arlc should base the location of its teams based on his poor life choices
imagine being a pommie league fan where the game is marginalised
you move to a country where it’s one of the biggest sports
then you pick the bit that has no league team
When I’m in Melbourne and I see guy bouncing a sherrin around it’s just an alien environment
I could never live in a fumbler state after growing up in a city which is absorbed by rugby league
going to Melbourne is way different to going to Brisbane even if the demographic of melb is closer to Sydney than Brisbane
They kind of are maybe the two can merge and have play at 12 different home grounds across 6 different countries and 4 different states in AustraliaPNGRL have been clear they want to own the license and play most, if not all, games in PNG. Good luck Easts lol, you're starting to become the next Bears.
at least the bears are trying to get their name back in the NRL. East Tigers will have to be happy with the club being callled PNG Bengals. They kind of are maybe the two can merge and have play at 12 different home grounds across 6 different countries and 4 different states in Australia
Why? For 1 or 2 games year?If the team does base itself in Cairns then Barlow Park might get an earlier than expected upgrade.
You are so jealous it’s hilariousWhy? For 1 or 2 games year?
and From who? Council, nah. State, nah. Feds, maybe. Pssing away our money on this so whats a few more tens of mills on a un-needed stadium eh?
Not at all. I can see no sustainability in whats being proposed. Id rather have no club than one destined to fall over in a few years. You are so jealous it’s hilarious

Better than perfIt's getting an upgrade for the Olympics. An NRL team might get it done sooner.

The QRL should requeat a second grandstand be built on the eastern side of the ground. It'll be good soe 2 or 3 NRL games a year.Better than perf
You’re nailing all these people who said Perth would be in and not Brisbane 2It's just like when V'landys announced Brisbane would get the 17th licence. That really ticked him off.
Did you miss the part that said "includes a new 5000-seat grandstand"?Did you miss the word 'temporary'?
