Bit weird that the NRL is being used as a political tool for the Prime Minister to maintain alliances within the Pacific but I guess that just goes to show the power of sport. If a PNG team does succeed in the NRL then I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a push to start an AFL team there as well considering footy is the second most popular sport there. PNG technically falls under the Suns academy zone but the AFL might take it more seriously and start their own academy if the NRL can make it work.

After all in the NRL can make it work the AFL will achieve even better results

I don't give a f**k what you think really, you just seem to want to throw a tantrum on every post, what happens to the foreign aid budget and how its spent is not something we can change, all we do is pay our taxes, you seem to think that the sum of 600 million dollars or whatever sum the Australian government decides to handover is magically going to change things, it won't. Once you start with handouts, it never stops, no matter what the sum is.
I don't care that a portion of that foreign aid money builds a team from scratch, it will eventually become self sufficient, you only have to look at the oil and mining companies in the region, besides it seems more of you are upset that this is a foreign 3rd world country getting a leg up rather than somewhere like Perth or Adelaide, who are simply not interested in the sport... i hope it goes well, I'm a believer that its a charitable concept, even with the Karen's here poking holes into every fibre of the bid
