What happens if WA Gov changes its policy on the Pirates? No, not like a Govt to change policy!

Check out the response on that thread by Get Rid of AwFuLA denizen of big footy wishes the project well (in the AFL is overtaking NRL in Qld thread)
Bit weird that the NRL is being used as a political tool for the Prime Minister to maintain alliances within the Pacific but I guess that just goes to show the power of sport. If a PNG team does succeed in the NRL then I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a push to start an AFL team there as well considering footy is the second most popular sport there. PNG technically falls under the Suns academy zone but the AFL might take it more seriously and start their own academy if the NRL can make it work.
After all in the NRL can make it work the AFL will achieve even better results
What you mean if they repossess the CofE or tear down the new stand theyve built? What happens if WA Gov changes its policy on the Pirates?
You’re so good at shifting goal posts optus stadium should hire youWhat you mean if they repossess the CofE or tear down the new stand theyve built?
WA govt isnt putting in all the funds a perth team needs to survive, because we dont need that.
Massive difference.
Eh? Ive said all along the WA govt wont fund the club. What they will hopefuly do is fund some of the infrastructure that will help the club be viable ie CofE, new west stand at HBF, increase their current Jnr program funding. You’re so good at shifting goal posts optus stadium should hire you
You’ve banged on about wa govt support as crucial for the bidEh? Ive said all along the WA govt wont fund the club. What they will hopefuly do is fund some of the infrastructure that will help the club be viable ie CofE, new west stand at HBF, increase their current Jnr program funding.
Meanwhile PNG will require the NRL and the Aus govt to foot nearly every bill and without that govt money they cease to exist. Best hope no change of policy eh?
you cant see the difference in what Im saying? Theres a massive risk difference between a Govt funding infrastructure projects for a club and a club requiring govt funding ongoing to survive. You’ve banged on about wa govt support as crucial for the bid
now donkey points out the hypocrisy re png the goal posts get shifted
both bids are heavily reliant on govt support
worse for Perth vlandys wanted them involved with the bears whilst png can go alone

Perth is the former, PNG the latter.
Once the WA govt has built the infrastructure it cant take it back if policy changes lol
I think we can right off the Perth Bears lol.
Any team that is 110% funded by the Government isn't "going it alone"I can see the difference
yet you are also exaggerating
Am I? you are literally the only person who thinks that the Govt funding will last forever, or if it doesnt that somehow PNG will be able to generate $15mil plus a year in revenue.I can see the difference
yet you are also exaggerating
I was one of few people who said a png nrl was a chance which you laughed atAm I? you are literally the only person who thinks that the Govt funding will last forever, or if it doesnt that somehow PNG will be able to generate $15mil plus a year in revenue.
Clearly the NRl didnt think the latter either given they werent even considering them until Govt funding came along.
How? They will have to better any NRL teams sponsorship portfolio to make up for lack of paying fans and corporate sales in Port Moresby. Do you believe thats possible?I was one of few people who said a png nrl was a chance which you laughed at
going by past history this expansion forum (majority of people) predicts the wrong option every time
png will be fine

You really havent beyond "PNG has mining companies"answered this multiple times before
Well my answer isn’t changing lolYou really havent beyond "PNG has mining companies"
You do appreciate the issues though dont you? With a stadium of only 15k capacity with few corporate boxes and majority of population with little to no disposable income the odds of a PNG club being able to generate revenue in line with most other clubs is going to be significantly difficult?Well my answer isn’t changing lol

Most clubs are generating
$1-3mil merch sales
$4-7mill memberships and gate takings
$7-14mill sponsorships
TBF we are talking about a $35million prof sports club in a developing nation where basic needs are not even being met. I know Penrith is a bit of a dive but even they had more prospects than that lolSure
but you guys are making it sound impossible
go back to any team being added in and they had poor prospects
Penrith and Cronulla were broke for 30’years or so
It took Penrith 20 years to make their first finals series
the area was povo city
In a nation of 17 million people can they find 25k a week to pay 25 to 50 for tickets ? EasyTBF we are talking about a $35million prof sports club in a developing nation where basic needs are not even being met. I know Penrith is a bit of a dive but even they had more prospects than that lol
Id be much happier for PNG admission if there was a NRL strategy for what happens when the Govt money finishes. Maybe there is, lets hope so.
