you overestimate politicians! They honestly believe funding an NRl club in PNG will stop Chinas influence in the pacific. I mean if that is what they believe then you cant put anything past them when it comes to throwing our money around like confetti.

TBF, the ones that matter don't believe that it'll stop China's influence in the Pacific or PNG, only that it'll help slow down China's increasing influence in PNG. Either way they're wrong.

PNG will continue to play both sides until it blows up in their face, because that's what almost all people do in these situations. Other pacific nations will see what PNG, and others, have done and come demanding extravagant gifts themselves. You can't fight human nature.
