Jets & firehawks are only teams that can fund themselves. Where is this fantasy that NRL is going to supportadelaide & Perth coming from?!
Always funny how you make dumb statements like they are a fact when in reality they are nothing more than your own biased and Ill founded opinions.

govt hold the aces, presuming what they are offering is enticing enough to the nrl. a bears stand alone bid to be in perth isn’t going to trump a pirates bid backed by wa govt. McGowan wouldn’t be going to the trouble of paying a company to assess bid options if they had been told it’s bears or nothing.

WA govt won't care if its the Bears or the Pirates , as long as its a WA franchise. The NRL will see the value of the Bears brand , logo & colours being reborn again in a new team from Perth.

Some old Bears fans will get along to away games they play in Sydney & elsewhere , might even buy memberships etc
You know it makes sense

The only Pasifika location that makes any sense (not that the concept makes any sense) would be Wellington. 6 games in Wellington, 6 in Port Moresby.
Can PNG people get working visas for NZ?
Silktails, Hunters and a Wellington reserve grade team as feeders
Use PNG colours for away (and Port Moresby games) and pacifika colours for home (Wellington games) kit

NRl kills 2 birds wth one stone (well more like damages a wing) having a pseudo NZ2 and paid for by Aus Govt and in a location thats currently unserved by NRL

With the early success of the Dolphins, should the NRL continue to expand the competition?

ARLC CEO Peter V’landys has confirmed the NRL’s interest in forming three more teams in the next decade, whilst pointing out a Papua New Guinea-Pasifika team as the most probable next destination.

Along with the PNG-Pasifika side, there is likely to be interest from a fifth Queensland team, a second New Zealand team and Perth.

SEN’s Matty Johns admitted that 20 teams is an unrealistic number at the moment but revealed where he’d like to see the NRL’s 18th side to be based.

“20 at the moment is too much, when we do expand, in my opinion, the first side that should come in is Pasifika,” Johns said on SEN 1170 The Round Up.

“When people say we have to go to Perth, my concern about going to Perth, is that one day the junior nursery will be there, will be strong and able to be sustained, in the meantime you’re going to be poaching from all these sides on the east coast, which lessens the competition.

“I think in a shorter period of time if you have a side representing Pasifika, you look at where the games gone, the amount of Pacific Island players in the competition, the impact they’re having, I think Pasifika is a must.

“I know the Australian Government, Anthony Albanese is desperate for Peter V’landys to bring in a Pasifika side, so they have a presence in the pacific… it’s around the presence of China in that region.

“By the sounds of things, they’re willing to fund a lot of this, on top of that there is just huge oil money in Papua New Guinea.”

Johns admitted expanding to 20 teams should have occurred in the 90s when the NRL didn’t have to fight with rugby union for the best players.

“I think 20 (teams) is too much at the moment, maybe a decade down the line we’ll get there,” Johns added.

Johns’ concerns stem from the depth of the current playing pool, stating that the expansion could have worked easier three decades ago before rugby union became a full-time professional sport.

“It (expansion) should have happened then (1993), a couple of things were important, rugby union was still amateur, at that point we were poaching some of the best international players.

“So, there was another pool to pick from, on top of that the English rugby league was played in the winter which let their best players come here and play in the off-season.”

Matty johns is an idiot, plus the 20 team plan he heard was obviously Chinese whispers, as i he didn't hear it properly, the plan was to get to 20 teams by 2032... roughly a decade away, johns thinks its all happening 2mrw all three next season, then comments on how perth isnt upto the junior participation as much as the pasifika would be, no shit idiot... the plan was to do it in a decade, by then perfh could've been sprouting juniors, and pasifika will be 70% ratio in the league...
PR you know better than to troll with this, its not news if it comes from the johns brothers

Pirates away fans in Sydney games = 50
Bears away fans in Sydney games = 1k to 10k

not hard which way the Sydney clubs will want it to go

Where does Johns think all these Pacific players comes from? 99% come from Aus or NZ. So it would be bad for Perth to recruit from these areas but ok for a Pasifika team to do it.
He thinks having a club play some games in PNG will see PNG suddeny be developing nrl frist graders. And that these players wont just jump ship to live in a nicer place and not have to travel so much at the first opportunity.

Like most in the media these days they dont critically think things through and are ill informed. They're opinionists not journalists.
