Yep, drip-feed it to some nobody, see what the initial reaction is, then get more prominent journos to push it.

Then put out a statement to say you are investigating the possibility while you wait to see if it's got public support. If there is support, push ahead, if there isn't, say you investigated it and there are too many problems to overcome.

At this stage the government have really said nothing other than that they investigating it, so it's easy for them to back out of it.

Or she just heard a rumour and went with it .. she is on that show every day…gotta come up with something

She actually said PNG was “confirmed as the 18th team” …from memory people didn’t believe her …as it was out of the blue

People can read as much or as little as they like in what has been said publicly…from the likes of Albo, Pacific Minister Pat Conroy, PVL, Abdo , PNG Deputy PM… everyone is talking about it…

Based what went on in the lead up to the referendum …Albo couldn’t give a toss about public opinion

She actually said PNG was “confirmed as the 18th team” …from memory people didn’t believe her …as it was out of the blue

And claimed it was $20m in funding. That then later changed to $60m. Almost like saying $60m upfront would have been hard to sell.

Talking about how they are looking at whether it will work. Not exactly confirmation of anything, and exactly how many things go in politics.

Govts talk about a shitload of things they don't end up doing. It's testing the waters before a policy announcement.

If it was already done and guaranteed, why are all the stories saying it won't get announced until 2025?

Based what went on in the lead up to the referendum …Albo couldn’t give a toss about public opinion

Why do so many people rewrite history like this. Look at the support for it when it was announced. Once it was announced and scheduled, it was never getting cancelled.

The only one saying PNG is “guaranteed“ is Michelle Bishop… do you believe her about that?

I got no idea about the funding claims or the timeline …. Details are very sketchy so far..

Albo could have changed the referendum question …. It was clear months beforehand the original proposal was doomed…the “voice” was probably unlikely to get through but the constitutional recognition part could have been a separate question

You seem a little agitated about the prospects of PNG actually being seriously considered for a team by the NRL & Aust Govt … is this the case, and if so …why?

You do know that you don't have to support something just because PVL wants it right? You know if something is a completely terrible idea, that you don't have to try and find some positive right?

Oh and more importantly, notice how the 2 dumbest posters on the forum are the 2 who are agreeing with you?

Nice deflections …

PVL and other posters .. that’s what this discussion is about

If PNG get the 18th team … you’ll be ok…. doubt your life changes much at all

Won't change one iota, doesn't mean it's not a stupid idea.

You agree with that to, but you seem to get all defensive about people continuing to point out that fact.

I think there is more than enough defensiveness going on around here from everyone… even you big boy

It’s a stupid idea … that doesn’t mean it won’t happen though.. particular based on what has been reported in the media the past month….

The fact that it is a stupid idea probably makes it more than likely to happen looking at how Aust Governments have operated the past 25 years …

Claims he doesn't support it, but defends it as much as anyone other than wb1234. Weird way to show your opposition.

If you're so smart then why were you unaware that women are at a disadvantage when they compete against 15yo boys in sport?

There's this thing called biology. Learn it.

Ah yes, a scrimmage in ice hockey where the women had a reason to avoid injury and only go half pace is totally proof that 15 yo boys always beat women's national sports teams.

But yeah congrats, notice how you only found a couple of articles about when the boys won, and not about when the women did? If the boys were expected to win, it wouldn't be newsworthy.

You don't have any evidence that the women went easy to avoid injury, dumbarse.

You and @Colk are a couple of dumb pricks of you don't think 15yo boys have a physiological advantage over women.

Here's what a player from the US women's soccer team said:

"They should beat us. Bigger, stronger, faster! Boys always gave us a run for our money! It was great prep," Lloyd wrote in a separate social media post.

While answering questions on X, Lloyd was asked by one user “Carli is it true you lost to a bunch of 15 year old boys?”

“Yes it’s true. I know…thousands of people have already brought that up,” Lloyd answered. “They were good.”

Lloyd went on to say the loss wasn’t the only one she experienced at the hands of a male team, but that it helped her secure some prestigious tournaments, including gold medals at two FIFA World Cups (2015, 2019) and two Olympics (2008, 2012)

“We actually lost to a youth Bayern Munich team in my career as well but then we went on to win Olympics and World Cups. So…..” Lloyd added.

FC Dallas defeated the USWNT 5-2 and was used by the US as a tune-up before an international friendly against Russia, according to CBSSports.

There's five examples of U15 boys team beating national women's teams. An U16 boys team thrashed Brazil's women's team, too.

If you don’t think not of you don’t think. You really have a problem with anger and name calling.

But I actually agree with you - men do have on average a physical advantage over women.

I’m sure this has some relevance to a possible png nrl club, I’m just failing to see it
