I hit partypoker hard for a few months - then the fun wore off.

Have not played in a while now, but it was an ok site.

Lol, very nice. A guy tried to slow play two pair against me the other night so we checked it down and i hit the straight on the river. Gotta love that.

Best part was he was acting all cocky when I called his bet after the river. To be honest I thought he must have had the straight too. As soon as I called he goes "Nice, nice, I need the chips."

After we flipped our cards I said "You definitely need the chips now".

I'm not a talker at the table but he was asking for that one.

You're not blowing money if you know how to play.

I go alright playing free on the net. I'd rather see who im playing if I were to play for money though.

What about the prize money at the end of each season?Or maybe the APL Pro Series games.

That a select few from each region are good enough to qualify for? No way.
As I said, I play a $5 buy in for $500, and there's only usually fifty players or so, so to win you only need to beat about twelve other players. And that's well worth the 100/1 odds on my money.

Same.
It is a massive disadvantage for me anyway because I work extremely hard on tells/reverse tells and trying to read other players. Taking that facet away can drastically reduce your success.

Anyone play games other than Holdem? Personally I'm a big fan of O-8B (Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or better).

It's usually top five from each venue go through to the semi-finals. There are about 150 at each venue for the semis and the top 30-odd from there go through to the big final, which is on this Saturday (NPL).

I think there will be about 200 of us there playing for the $15,000. Would be very handy :D

Coleman, I also prefer playing against people but you can still pick up tells on the net. It's all about betting patterns. As usual the best thing to do is try not to play too many hands early so you can observe what people are doing and how they bet. It's actually easier to do so on the net because a lot of the pub tournaments have blinds that rocket up very quickly and you don't have time to f**k around.

Shark-Spurs, you'll find that playing for free is very different to playing for money. People are very loose when it's a free game.

What's the best poker move anyone has seen from a pro?
I remember seeing a tournament with Doyle Brunson sitting next to his mate Chip Reese. From memory Brunson got dealt pocket queens and raised before the flop. Reese got dealt pocket kings and reraised him significantly. Brunson considered, then said to Reese "I know you got something good..." before chucking his queens. All class.

Another one was the WSOP main event. Final table Alan Cunningham got pocket twos i think or paired a two. There were four or 5 overcards sitting down. Jamie Gold tried a huge bet after the river to throw Cunninham off. He called and took the pot. Gold won the whole thing however.

It takes guts to fold pocket pocket queens.

Once I was playing around with my mates with a short stack and went all in blind. 2 people called and then they played out the side pot. When I looked at my cards after going all-in I had pocket aces. I thought I had easily trippled my chips but someone else got a straight on the river.

I saw a pot where Phil Ivey and someone else sat there raising and re-raising each other when neither player had anything at all. It was very impressive. Ivey ended up taking the pot after his third re-raise.

Loved when Negreaunu called Mike Sexton's bet after the river knowing he was beaten.

Negreanu had only a pair so when Sexton raised Negreaunu goes "The onlt thing you could have is pocket Kings" - then he calls the bet just to see if he is right!

Which he was. He then says "How do you like that, I just paid $90,000 to find out if I'm playing well"

Classic.

:) Negreanu is cool. He and Phil Ivey have opposite natures but I like watching them both play.

One of the worst players I've seen is Ming the Sting (not to be confused with Ming the Master) who won a tournament by simply going all-in on almost every single hand after 3 were left. It was so weird and he kept catching cards! I was like "is this guy for real?" And he ended up winning. The funny thing was when the cards were turned up and he was well behind he'd start celebrating and telling everyone that his cards were coming and they would.
