The guy who wants to play for the All Blacks but not the Kiwis cos his loyalty is to a logo and not a country.

He will be playing Yawnion in Japan or France within 5 years.

Has anyone ever seen a fullback stand a metre behind the hooker and plays with his ball as much as Ponga does?

Sometimes when the hooker ain’t the prettiest you have to stand back and give the old fella a couple of shakes before ripping in

Was KP 100% fit tonight though? It seemed like he was very tentative on that knee still. He looked like he tweeked it once or twice during the game too.
he has to be injured, there's no other explanation.

This would have been the perfect opportunty for Hodgson to show us what he's got.

It was a shit performance from him, but he wasn’t alone. Basically all our senior players either played like shit or weren’t on the field last night.

I’m sure this mystery knee injury is affecting him somewhat. He basically never got into a full stride the whole game and looked to be running at around 50% intensity whenever he got the ball. I’m sure part of it is attitude as well, but yeah he seemed to be down on confidence.

That being said, it’s one game. I thought he was pretty good in round 1 and was pretty involved in that game. Let’s see how he rebounds next week.

If Ponga is still struggling with the injury, why. He was going to play against Penrith but pulled out “not quite right” then played against Cronulla with a very poor game and never looked right.
Poor handling of situation, get him right even if it takes weeks, play Hoy or Baker till he is definitely ok, either of those two are better than an injured Ponga if yesterday is anything to go by.

Ponga fatigue is real.

Obviously he garners lot's of clicks and the Murdoch media is relentless, with the MO being if there's no story , make one.

There's more chatter around this guys contracts than there is newsworthy stories about his performances.

He has 24 months to step up and fulfil his potential or just be another would of, could of career.

He will be able to sit back in retirement counting his money thinking “that all came easy” and if he has failed to achieve it doesn’t appear like he will regret it.

I reckon I'm not alone but I don't want my million dollar captain being someone who has no interest in Rugby League or winning in general...
That is something you could almost forgive in a side like the Tigers, but not in a team with serious short-term finals aspirations.

And there’s a story coming out saying Ponga met with Wayne Bennett for lunch today (Saturday).
Getting tired of this guy pretty quickly.
I actually want him to leave.

Even after last night that may not be the popular thing to say, but I just can't see him being the one taking us anywhere great. We have some nice pieces right now and we can add a few more nice pieces if he leaves... Not if he strings us along and we miss out on some talent though.

obviously he isnt 100% committed to the Knights or he would have already signed his option. Seriously sounds like 1 crap deal the Knights agreed to.

Kalyn Ponga has met with super coach Wayne Bennett following Friday night’s loss to the Sharks.
In the strongest indication the superstar fullback is seriously considering quitting the Newcastle Knights, the Sunday Telegraph can reveal Ponga had lunch with Bennett at a secret location in Sydney on Saturday afternoon.
Redcliffe CEO Terry Reader and recruitment boss Peter O’Sullivan were also at the meeting.

The Knights skipper has become the No.1 target for the Dolphins following the decisions by Jahrome Hughes and Harry Grant to remain at Melbourne Storm.
The details of Ponga’s meeting with Bennett are being kept hush-hush.
We were at first met with a terse “no comment” from a Dolphins official when asking for more details of their meeting. Ponga’s father Andre, who acts as his manager, did not return phone calls. Later in the afternoon Reader spoke to The Sunday Telegraph.

“We’re constantly talking to players about building our squad,” he said. “There’s a lot of moving pieces. We’re in negotiations every day with players and agents.
“We just don’t comment on these talks. We want the best players like the other 16 clubs. We’re doing everything we can to assemble the best roster we can.”
Ponga’s situation in Newcastle is getting more difficult each week. He went back to Newcastle on the team bus after the loss to the Sharks then returned to Sydney on Saturday morning.
With the contract speculation obviously a distraction, the Knights skipper had a poor game against the Sharks. In fairness, he is playing with heavy strapping on a knee injury that affects his lateral movement.

The Knights are understood to have offered Ponga more than $1.2 million a year to remain in Newcastle.
