Positives for 2023

Positives for me:

- Ice is gone (as good as he is with the ball in his hands, he is deadset a defensive liability)

- we get a bigger body at hooker (I love Mahoney, and he tries his arse off, but he is small)

- Hopgood's signing (he's the prototypical modern-day middle forward; mobile, for, agile, skilful, and not overly huge)

- we get Dunster back from injury (while not a world beater, he is a more reliable player than Waqa Blake)
Dunster for me is a future star. I hope he's packed on plenty of size since his injury, I reckon he'll be twice as big as he was before the injury. If we get Scott I think Waqa will be shafted in reserve grade. A backline of:
1. Gutho 2. Sivo 3. Scott 4. Penisni 5. Dunster
I honestly think this is a big improvement on what we had this year. Also Penisni, Scott and Dunster are all under 24 and are only going to get better. Both centres are also pretty strong defenders.

Positives for next year:

* Hodgson coming to the club will add some experience and help a young hooker coming through or a fringe player from another club, on and off the field
* Good young players still in our squad especially Dunster, Russell and Rodwell, hope to see them play more first grade next year.
*Hopwood is another good signing from Penrith

Hopefully there's other signings coming

Our home ground isn't being used for the Woman's Soccer World Cup next year.

While Souths, Bulldogs, Melbourne, Roosters, Brisbane lose there home ground for 6 weeks.

And have to transfer some home games.

We should keep our 11 home games at Fortress Commbank which is a positive.

You would assume that they will structure the draw to limit the number of home games during that period, probably only two home games for each. You would assume that one of their 'away' home games that some of these clubs tend to do will be during this period. Interesting to see where the Broncos play though, maybe down the Gold Coast. Melbourne will probably play a couple of games up on the Sunshine Coast.

Well these clubs have announced this already.

Brisbane are playing 3 games at the Gabba.

Dolphins playing at Redcliffe and sunshine coast in that period.

Storm are playing 2 games at Docklands (indoor stadium).

Souths are taking a game to Perth and Sunshine coast.

Roosters said may move back to the SCG for a month. They haven't confirmed anything yet.

It's going to be chaotic draw.

I was wondering whether the Storm might play at Docklands.

I note NZ venues, not Mt Smart, also impacted.

I think we were premiership favourites to start both seasons.

We have never handled that very well.

We have the benefit of Penrith having that mantle next year at least.
Regardless, the grand final experience wasn't a positive. One of the main reasons we were favourites for the next seasons was because of the grand final.
