Interesting seeing Potter on the Footy Show today.

Seemed to imply that he never has as much control over the Football Operations as he wanted...

I assume that this extended to player selections...

I don't get why you would pick players in the team you don't want though... You may as well get the sack for your decisions, rather than someone else's...

Having said that, he had the opportunity to tip a bucket on the club and didnt. Stayed classy to the end.

Tigers sacked me three months ago: Potter

Axed Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter has revealed he felt like a dead man walking during the final three months of his tenure with the NRL joint venture.

Potter was told on Wednesday by Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer that his two-year contract at the club would not be renewed, bringing to an end the former star fullback's tumultuous reign with the Tigers.

But the former Catalans, St Helens and Bradford mentor said on Channel Nine's Footy Show that he knew his cards were marked when speculation of his continued role with Wests come to a head before their round-20 loss to St George Illawarra in late July.

The week before the Tigers looked set for a finals berth after thrashing Canterbury 46-18, but things went down hill on the morning of the Dragons game when news broke of a board meeting that night that could decide Potter's future.

Brisbane great and media personality Gorden Tallis then went to radio to claim that Tigers captain Robbie Farah told him that Potter "couldn't coach" and was one of the driving forces behind a move to oust him.

The Tigers lost 28-12 to the Dragons and then dropped their next five games to fall out of finals contention.

Potter confronted Farah over the claims pre-game and said he knew from then on the writing was on the wall.

"I knew where they were heading probably three months ago and I am just disappointed it has ended this way," Potter said.

"I understand how and why but (feeling) anger is not something that is high on the list."

Potter said he doubted a finals spot would have saved his job.

"I don't know. I honestly don't know where they were heading with that, whether it would have made any difference," he said.

When asked about the nature of his relationship with Farah now, the former Canterbury, St George and Western Reds No.1 chose his words carefully.

"We are okay on the surface. He is just passionate about the club and he wants the best for the organisation all the time," Potter said.

"He does let his emotions get the best of him some of the time.

"We certainly had our issues during the year and I have addressed them as best as I can.

"But it wasn't about trying to please Robbie. It was about trying to get the best out of the team all the time.

"Sometimes it doesn't rub too well with him."

Potter said he felt he hadn't been given enough support and authority to do the job he wanted to do, but had confidence in the new Tigers board, headed up by media executive Marina Go.

"I'm pretty confident that the new board they have appointed is really going to make a massive step forward for the organisation," he said.

"I'm really happy that it is in place and I think there is a group of people there that is going to take the business forward."

Dumped Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin is the frontrunner to succeed Potter in a group that includes Nathan Brown, Jason Taylor, Matt Parish and Potter's former assistants David Kidwell and Todd Payten.

Well there you have it.
For those who think Farah wasn't involved in this is delusional. It was all about him.

Thanks for the honesty Mick and confirming what most believed.

I think you need to read that article again and then reevaluate what you just posted.

Farah wants the best for the club and there were times him and Potter didn't get along does not mean Farah goes and tells Mayer and the board who to appoint as coach.

Come on.
Potter says it was the pre game chat with Farah is when he realised he was done as coach.
Are you calling Potters quote a lie?

Admittedly its the Tele but I think one thing is clear cut. There are a bunch of people lining up to coach the Tigers.

Interestingly we have also signed Takairangi and he was quoted as stating Potter being released wasn't an issue.

Its good to see at least we can put 2 of the BS stories to rest on here. The first being no one was going to want to coach the Tigers and the 2nd being we couldn't sign anyone without a coach.

I'm going to repeat this really slowly. Potter stating that Robbie wants the best for the club and that they didn't get along does not equal that Robbie sacked Potter.

An apple does not equal an airplane - do you get that ?

Mick was just putting it politely like the gentleman he is.
Farah just hides behind lies and when confronted by the media he sulks for weeks and runs to a waiting car after a loss.

Farah may be a good player but he is a shit captain/person.

Whatever. We need a hard arse in control who won't take crap. Someone like Steve Folkes as Football Manager.

Farah may be a dickhead of the highest order but truthfully I don't care. I just want a team that wins games regularly and acts respectfully within reason.

I think some of the service that he provided this year was absolute trollop and I have no issues with criticizing that part of his game.

If Potter has to go to push the club forward so be it.

Potter hasn't blamed Farah for any involvement in his downfall. That discussion prior to the Dragons came shortly after the review was completed & while Tallis was dragging Farah through the shit over his 18 month old comments.

I am with you Ron's Mate. The past is the past and while it is a bit murky we now have an off season to rid ourselves of that. Lets hope we get the right coach in place to start again (hopefully someone who will rule with an iron fist).

We have too much talent at risk in 2015 to be fighting and carrying on like the rabble we were this year....

We just need a good coach that can inspire the players, can put a good game plan together and who can pick the right players in the right positions. The club has plenty of options - lets hope they choose a good one.

The only thing that let Sheens down was picking the right players in the right position. Potter had the same problem but lets be honest we have no idea if he could get the other factors right.

To me that says Robbie thinks that his opinion is more important than that of the coach and the team. God help us if Robbie doesnt get his way! Robbie just needs to concentrate on letting his football do the talking and letting his ego take a back seat.

In saying that, Robbie wasnt the reason Potter got sacked. We can thank Grant Mayer and the board for that. Spineless, gutless, bastards

So you still think he is fit (mentally) to captain the team?
What does this teach the young guys coming through?
Same petulant child will find something else that rubs him the wrong way in 2015 regardless who is in charge.
