A lot of dropped ball in that game. The lions forwards pretty much out-muscled the dragons.
Head looked pretty uninterested through the great majority of the game, but in saying that he did have some class touches. McDade and Packer both proved a hand full.

St George have always been known for their big forward packs over the years in P/L. If you outmuscled that, you are not doin too bad Cobber.

Saints had some big, fast, skillful units alright. 15 minutes in I thought they were going
to slaughter the Lions.

Thanks for the scores.

Newcastle look to be one of the sides to beat at this stage. Still undefeated.

quote from Newcastle coach Trent Robinson (from an SMS to a support staff member) "They won, but ugly"

The Newcastle side is mostly made up of guys who were in our outstanding Flegg side last season and a few guys from the season before - so they are a pretty young side.

One interesting guy is Mark Tuafua who is a guy who played Union in the Newcastle district comp (and was best and fairest for the last few seasons) while his 'little' brother Larry Tuafua was working his way through the Knights junior system. He was introduced to Brian Smith by Larry and was given a chance to train with the side, and he trained the house down. The guy has amazing natural fitness that reminds you of Ben Kennedy and he is about that size and strength too. Today was his fourth competition game of League and he could play firstgrade within a few weeks. He has taken to the game like a duck to water.

any idea on the pointscorers for the canberra v norths game?

The Canberra Times only lists the Canberra scorers.

Canberra 38 (Dunemann, Buttriss, Lasscock, Grintell, Lawrence, Herbert, Howell tries; Herbert 3 Goodwin 2 goals) def. Norths 10

They have had a BYE. Like several other of the sides in theTop eight. Jets have theirs this weekend, and should go up the eight accordingly. Jets have the highest attack thus far, however have also conceded the most points.
