always had a soft spot for parra, but it's obviously amateur hour over there. One thing is certain though and that's tpas and governance around them are a joke. I fully expect the nrl to do nothing and the better administered clubs to continue not getting caught.

If watmoughs retirement deal is passed by the NRL, then that is 500k at least straight off this year and next.

They had to prove he is retiring due a new injury. If he goes then it's a fringe first grader or two. Problem solved. For this year. Next year with bonuses and upgrades they might be f**ked again.

What gets me is that NRL are heavy handed on the EELS, but when it come to salary cap breaches from the Broncos last year the NRL did nothing cause Andrew Gee was no longer an employee of the club.

Spot on - the Broncos whitewash was an absolute disgrace !
Scott Seward was the attempted sacrificial scapegoat for Parra, but him leaving obviously didn't stop the Parra investigation.

I do feel sorry for the Parra fans ... let's face it, as Sharks fans we know all about incompetent governance ... but good to see Sharp & co get what they deserved.

And if they are shedding players, forget Beau Scott, we have enough ageing forwards.
Peni Terepo would be best value for money IMHO - get the feelers out Flanno !

What I don't get , is how Parra were going to pay Jarryd Hayne's contract on top of these other breaches & be anywhere near the cap limit ?

Really Panda?

Pretty obvious they were deliberately cheating the cap, so they would have continued to do so.

Like I suspect many other clubs are.

I know that's what they were going to do , I just don't get how they thought they would get away with it.
If they are $560,000 over this year & Hayne was originally contracted for this year , that's pretty close to $1.3 million over the cap - granted they may not have chased Foran if Hayne had stayed , but f&ck they were either extremely arrogant or extremely stupid.

Why wouldn't they think that they would? Only clubs that had been caught before was blind luck or disgruntled employees.

Whenever a good player becomes available the same old clubs are always lining up for them and make space. Eels just hoping to join the same group.

All the clubs do their level best to find ways around the cap. Some just become too complacent and the scale becomes too large to hide among the weeds.

Greenburg said on Talkin' Sport that they will look at this on its merits of Parra put it forward.

Talk about a get out of gaol free card if it works out for them.

Just slip Watmough some cash under the table to retire early!
