Prepare for some news

In breaking news the NZ Warriors have announced the signing of two high-profile graphic designers and three leading fabric printers to their head-office staff along with an aura-realignment poker coach. It is hoped by Warriors management that focusing attention away from on-field performances may help to bolster crowd numbers and give fans something to feel positive about.
The 2015 supporters pack will include a free Warriors balloon which fans will be invited to join together in bursting after the team's third straight loss at the start of the season.

Moderators/FRF chiefs, we need like and dislike buttons on this forum. It's so early 2000s at the moment.

Rich, Like btw.

Sounds like Lion will be ticking off Bukuya on his list shortly. Back to the sharks

Well I was the first to let you know that Bukuya and Rapira were told they may need to look for new homes in 2015

Titans offered much more money than the Warriors could match for Hoffman, we did make a very serious play for him

It is only now becoming obvious how profound your predictions were.

Cool. So when Bukuya is gone we'll put you up to 2/11 corrections that have become reality.

If we can get you to 5 or 6 out of 11 we'll give you Oracle status. There's still time!

(I think your major downfall was the certainty in the language you used in your original post - "signed" and "close to signing" when in reality these guys were only in talks (as advanced as they may have been) and still pretty far off. Of the guys you said had signed or were close to signing, Watmough is gone, Hoffman is gone and only Matai remains and there's talk that he's extended his contract with Manly).

On to a more serious note - with these players we've released, are we going to actually be in any better shape in 2015 than 2014?

Hoffman is the only star coming in and we've released two starting 2nd rowers. Just bizarre.

Unsure.

Either we're signing a couple of journeymen/fringe first graders, or Cappy really feels there's a couple young guys ready to burst onto the scene. Which in itself would be odd considering how we appeared to be clearing the decks in our lower grades too.

Unlike Mateo, Bukuya leaving has no impact on our 2016 cap as he was off contract anyway. So this is just clearing cap space for 2015 that we're not going to use without a signing.

I can't see how we are much weaker given those FGers who have left.
Ropo - Always injured, gone mid season
Locke - Questions over his attitude, gone mid season
Mateo - Questions over his attitude with his constant dips of forms. Sad really, he could be one of the most dangerous players in the game on his day.
Tuimavavue - Never cemented a spot, and personally, I don't think he's upto it.

Bring in Allwood, who adds more competition to the outside backs, effectively replacing Ropo.
Hoffman - Australian rep, hope he adds more to us from the Storm than Nielson.
Fish - Not a new signing, but effectively a gain from this season granted his injury record.
Lisone to hit FG no doubt, guy is a huge talent

With potential for other in comings as well, I fail to see how we could be weaker.
Our losses will be more from NYC

Sam's a disappointing case. He was nigh-on the best prop in the world around the 2009-10 sort of time, and now I really don't see a lot of impact from him at all.

I take it David Hala is going to the Titans but he might've been someone to look at. Absolute beast who smashed all sorts of lifting records at the Broncos, and might be ready to mature.

I don't see a lot of loss in Mateo/Bukuya/Lousi. The first two offered a lot at their best but haven't offered it in Auckland and were never likely to. The third was never going to cut it in the NRL.

Hoffman/Henry/Mannering will do me, plus whatever else is coming through.

Masoe to St George???? Would have been good to see the Warriors make a play for him.

Can't find anything suggesting more than there being interest. But if this is done and we haven't at least made a major play for him.... well, Bell should probably already be sacked, so I don't know what.

Warriors did make contact with his management. Masoe is still pissed the Warriors never signed him when he tore the National comp apart for Wellington. For all the hype Russell Packer had, Masoe was twice he player he was at the same time in the same competition. Warriors know now they are the last place he signs unless they pay BIG.

Masoe was the same as he is now. BFN.

Very big potential but never does the hard yards.
5-10 minitues of big runs and the occasional

Packer was the better player at the time and has much more of a career.
Masoe has had a big hit here or thre.

Bullshit, Masoe was running in 80 metre trys, bulldozing over player after player, the only other forward in that competition doing close to that was a kid called Sonny Fai whom is probably the only player who truly deserved to wear the next SBW tag. The roosters stole Masoe after the Warriors failed to lock him up.

Russel Packer was more hype than substance when the Warriors signed him, and they only signed him to steal him back away from the Roosters also rather than be the one that got away like many others that haunted this club. They had to lock in his brother to get him back to the Warriors, his brother was a hard worker but very average.

Sonny Fai and Ali Lauititi are the only junior players who stood out as much as Masoe did at that age in NZ Domestic comp. Whether or not he has gone on to be a star and deliver on potential, he was easily the best prop in the domestic comp at probably only 17 years of age then. Warriors should of locked him in and developed him.

So what 80 metre trys - what about getting back on defense, making tackles and then do it again.I do remember seeing him play a game back then - had big wraps on him.

Russell Packer more hype???

Well Packer became a quality NRL forward and played over 100 games. Probably will come back after a rest lol and be a decent forward.

Masoe played a handful of games and was releaed by two NRL clubs.
Comes up with some high impact plays and then does nothing - same as when he was younger.

Im sure they were interest in Masoe - many thought he was the best prospect.
However Matulino and even Packer....proved that theory wrong.
