Price To be sacked Brown in

I believe Nathan Brown can definitely be the answer, but isnt he currently coaching St. Helens? so this wouldnt be until next season at the earliest. We Brownie was the coach in his previous tenure at the club, he struggled to gain the respect of the players. That was because of the close relationship he had with a lot of them and he really struggled with that. I believe this time around it would be completely different, he doesnt have those relationship ties with any of the current squad so respect would be something he could easily gain. We know his tactics are good hence the stellar record he had at making finals appearances but just didnt have the spark to go all the way, which was due to lack of respect. He has matured as a coach over in the ESL and I think he would be a great coach for the club. He would also hopefully bring with him some of those young english props he has in his ranks at the moment! I'm all for the brownie decision!

I'm still not convinced. Our main issue right this minute is the defensive/tackling coach. The Bulldogs were only in second gear, if they were seriously pumped with less errors they would have put 60 on us.

There is something definitely amiss with the club right now.

It's actually worse than our situation last year as we could at least use the excuse we had no halves or centres. Sure, we maybe a forward or 2 short but FMD, there is surely enough quality to put in better performances that what we are currently seeing. Creagh, Merrin, Frizell, JDB, Thompson, Stockwell are all quality players but are all playing like reserve graders.

We have a world class backline with Widdop, Dugan, Beale, our wingers and Benji will soon come on board. This team should be in the 8.

There must be a reason why quality players are not performing. And what's worse, recruiting better players as we have seen is not the answer, coz as soon as they get here, they suddenly forget how to play. Thompson, Witt and Williams are a testament to that and even Widdops form is dipping now. Afraid it all starts with the administration and the coach.

A total clean out is what is required.

This is all very depressing, the players need to take responsibility just as much as the coach and admin.
There was a great lack of commitment yesterday.

But who's responsibility is it to keep the players engaged and motivated? Soward was seen to have had a bad attitude and so was moved on. Did you see how well he played on the weekend under a new coach and club?

And don't you see a recurring theme here? Other than Widdop's first weeks, how many of our "highly regarded" recruits have shined under Price's realm. Thompson is another example of a failed recruit but I bet if he does return to Canberra or another club, he recaptures his form.

At the moment, our club is stifling the careers of a number of quality FG players. And if this is off the mark, then we need to look at our recruitment, as we only ever seem to recruit players who suddenly forget how to play.

It's been almost 3 years of crap now...enough is enough.

What Brownie did really well was develop players. He pointed the club to Mike Cooper, who has been a rare shining light in the pack.

He has an eye for talent and St Helens are playing with bucket loads of spirit in the ESL.

The size of our forwards is a worry, but they are being coached at a horrible level. Need an injection of enthusiasm as much as anything else.

giboz, I agree with your first paragraph, just saying the players must take responsibility for yesterdays performance and as a result the coach looks like making changes and this is fair enough. We came up against stronger opposition in recent weeks. This isn't a level playing field, just look at the Bulldogs pack and FMD they tried to make is even stronger with the dumb arse from the scum.

At least Brown identifies talent and chooses the correct team most of the time and I only say most because of the Soward/Rogers debacle.....

He made that 1 blunder and has been slammed since about it by some Dragons fans. Took the gamble and did not pay off. He has surely learnt by now. That was ages ago.

He was also pressured by "senior players" who played with him during his playing career.
I'd take Brownie anyday over Price and many others

If the Board went with an interim coach it would be the worst possible decision mainly because the only interim coach they would appont is Mary. Price, Mary and Young should be sacked; they have shown us what they have to offer.

Sheens, Smith and Brown in that order, should be the only replacements for the Board to condsider. And the new coach should pick his coaching straff.

Probably my thoughts as well

Me too.

Nathan was on a hiding to nothing when he took over. Not a team, but team mates.

Price has had nearly 3 years, under the guidance of Bennett to make his stand.

He "got" the team he wanted.

Dugan = rep.
Beale = rep.
Morris = rep.
Merrin = rep.
Flo = rep.
Creagh = rep.
Widdop = rep.

Then you have Rein / Friz / Thommo / Cooper ... all fringe rep players.

Is that a bottom 4 side ?

Humpty Dumpty could coach them to the 8.

Seems there are a lot of angry disillusioned supporters out there, I know I'm one of them. Sunday was an absoloute disgrace I agree something needs to be done. If one casts and eye over the last 2.5 years our win/loss ratio is terrible. Our for/against is pathetic and it will continue until something is done to change that. To hear PRICE say the teams effort was soft is an insult. It was embarrassing, demoralising, and downright atrocious. The first thing that needs to be addressed is the coach being shown the front door. Second is to put some muscle up front so we can compete at the advantage line. Put GROAT in there, put ALIOMAI in there. The ease with which our defensive line was bent back had me in the feotal position sucking my thumb. Not pretty to watch. Oh and a note to the current coach STOP PLAYING SECOND ROWERS IN THE FRONT ROW IT DOES NOT WORK! People can wax on about signing Benji but if he does not have the room to work he will be back pedalling as well like our boys were yesterday.

The only thing I disagree with is Groat, all I can think is you mustn't have seen him play this year. Ailoimai should definately get a run. But it's really not the players its the poor ruck and if thats fixed everything will start to come good very quickly

So, outside of Tom Shines (nickname Possm) do we all agree on Brown?
Don't worry about the fact he is currently employed on the other side of the world, we can overcome this minor logistic matter.
Can he start on Wednesday?
On a serious note, I'll bet there are football club staff scrambling today in trying to find an adequate replacement. To be fair to Price, the team was shit and did not have a dig at all.

Jubileeboy I agree they didn't have a go for guys who keep harping on about how Price is a good coach and they want to play for him if thats what they are going to dish up serious some of them should just move on.

On another note would Brown even want to come back after what happened would be tempt fate a second time over if I was him I wouldn't knowing Doust is still in charge.

On the Sunday footy show Price was specifically asked about the dogs forward size and how the dragons would combat it. Price responded with " yes this has been spoken about at training and I have personally set our forwards a challenge today to aim up" ...... Well guess what either the forwards don't listen, or think Price is a fool and brushed off his challenge, or simply don't know how to aim up....
Either way a total disgrace...
