The heart of the Bulldogs just got ripped clean out, and they only have themselves to blame.

It's a shame for the Bulldogs. If there was one bloke playing for any club in comp who looked like he would remain loyal it'd be Price. I can't blame him though, with a big offer and his dissapointment at some of his team-mates and officials mistakes perhaps a fresh start would be good for him.

And you know why he left? Idiot. He was happy to stay until the Warriors offered him the world.

No one should get angry at him. It was his final contract and I doubt anyone on this forum would have remained at the club considering the circumstances.

His family is why he left, he has said it over the last week or so, what ever he does will be for his family. I guess if the Dogs paid him well enough rather than over paying hacks like Anasta then he would have stayed.

Take out what the dogs have done the last few years, pay the guy more and it would have been a no brainer, he would have stayed.

I'm not denying he's done it for his family, but to say the Bulldogs only have themselves to blame is crap.

The Warriors simply offered more than the Bulldogs were able to. It took a 1.2 million dollar enticement to get him to leave, agonisingly. If he was sick of staying at the club, he would have been looking for an out, rather than preparing to put pen to paper a couple of weeks ago. To say that he would have stayed if the Bulldogs had the sense to pay him more is foolish. It's like saying the Warriors would have won the comp this year, if they were the best team rather than the worst. There's such a thing as a salary cap and budget that prevents them from spending over the top on players. The Warriors had a crap load because they were able to park the money they had set aside for Ali Lautiti, who's now gone.

The dogs aren't to blame?

The salary cap scandal?
The drugs scandal?
The rape scandal?
The violent fans that get a slap on the wrist from the dogs at best?
The fact that even when the Dogs were cheating the cap Price was only on 180k, well under paid when one considers his importance on and off the field to the club. He is worth atleast a legit 250k a year.

Yeah they had nothing to do with him leaving.

They were offering him $280000 a year.

Those issues might have had something to do with his decision, but you blamed it entirely on the club, but a few weeks ago he was saying how much he loved the Bulldogs, and how he wanted to finish his career with them. Hardly the sign of a man wanting out. He's done what he thinks is best for his family, bottom line. If Warriors didn't offer so much he would have stayed - again hardly the sign of a man who is unhappy with his club.

Kiwi , summed it up nicely....

A good guy like Price didnt deserve the shit , that has surrounded the dogs over the last couple of seasons.
Also noting the dogs were shafting him on his contract at the height of the cap scandal, the dogs were able to overspend on then cap and pay rookies ( like Anasta ) at least double what he was earning......would surely be a sore point....

Its no wonder at this point in his career ...he is taking care of Steve Price and his family.

Good luck to a real nice guy of League , I hope he does well.

I just cannot understand how having Steve Price leave the Bulldogs at this stage of his career is good for rugby league.

Prior to 2001, Price had not stepped up to the mark, and was paid at the time what the club thought he was worth.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

Good luck to him at the warriors, he will be laughing on $400000 a year!
