QF1 Panthers vs Roosters

They had a lot of possession. Looked like the first Parra game over again but this time they held on. Only a really dumb error by Naden got them back to a one point deficit.
Sorry, but that just isn't true. All Naden was guilty of was giving them field position when going for a rocks or diamonds play. As described above, 1 second later and its diamonds. He is young, he will be better for the experiences next time. The tackles we missed on line in the next set of six got the Roosters within a point. Kikau's effort was pathetic.

Even if we lose the PF we'll have had a better season than in '04 due to losing only one other game. That was almost the 03 side, true, but injuries cruelled them in the finals. The other thing with that side is that they conceded 66 points in Melbourne. This side has yet to concede 30.

I’d be fine with Kikau swallowing the suspension. Capewell/Leniu is an unreal replacement and the nightmare is him beating the charge, playing and getting himself suspended for the GF.

Re Naden I think his defence has improved out of sight this year. This is his first full year at centre so has plenty of room to refine still. I absolutely thought he was a winger before this season.

Yes I should have said Naden's error gave them the opportunity to get back to a point. I think the side relaxed knowing they had a seven point break.

On the short kick off I think the receiving side should be allowed to play at the ball before it travels 10 metres.

There’s no need for him to swallow the suspension, one week if he fights it or not. May as well challenge it, we’re a better team with him.

It was probably just a comment made when caught up in the emotion immediately after the game. I actually said the same thing when watching the game live, that was inexcusable for an NRL player.

Exactly.

They're probably disappointed that that that they didn't get their brown paper bag's worth from the match officials

Yep. I loved seeing his reaction. It was comical.

Given the context of the game (time, score, finals etc) it was a poor play.

Here is the but: if he delayed his run by half a second, he scores untouched. It was a high risk, high reward play.

And to me that's how we've gotten to the dance in 2020. Playing what's in front of you, and taking your chances. Attacking the bouncing ball.

No but if he does beat the charge and plays the prelim and gets charged again, does he miss the GF?

Agree. The only way he'll get better is through game time and coaching.

Its 100% a weakness. But its not as if we didn't see it coming. The Roosters have the best short side attack in the NRL. As expected we got punished. Fortunately we found a way to play 40 minutes of our normal game and during that time we blew them off the park.

I'm more concerned with our early and late game jitters. As well as our use of the interchange.

Jitters were to be expected given the circumstances

Can someone who was at the game offer objective non biased advice on the 10 meters that Sutton was keeping seemed Roosters were very quick
