1. Billy Slater
2. Darius Boyd
3. Dane Gagai
4. Will Chambers
5. Corey Oates
6. Johnathan Thurston
7. Cooper Cronk
8. Dylan Napa
9. Cameron Smith (c)
10. Josh McGuire
11. Matt Gillett
12. Josh Papali'i
13. Sam Thaiday

14. Michael Morgan
15. Gavin Cooper
16. Jarrod Wallace
17. Korbin Sims

Slater is a no brainer. Can't believe they would leave the greatest fullback of probably all time out of the first game at home. WTF??? Has Darius blinded them all with his 'makeover' or has Wayne turned the screws on Kevvie, Gene and Locky? Cooper is a good selection and should have been there for game 1. Again - Guerra WTF??????? Why??????

Sam Thaiday has about 5 decent minutes in him these days - and only off the bench. Korbin pulls tough faces but I don't think is anywhere near rep level. Thought McGuire was really disappointing the other night. Maybe 20 min stint at prop to start the game would work better but who replaces him at 13??

Will be very interesting to see how Gagai defends at centre because he is horrible at NRL level and it is very obvious QLD selectors think the same thing. I think they will be extremely reluctant to place him there but if they go against everything they have perpetuated through the media and their own organisation and playing group the past decade then they will take the risk if they are desperate enough.

Will be very entertaining to watch what they come up with. I think if they choose the right players they will have a team that will go very close to beating NSW in game 2.

The Telegrapgh were pretty smart in the players they identified in the article. Nate Myles is probably going to be out of origin 2 due to that elbow injury, and O'neill hasn't looked right since coming back from his leg injury (he missed about 3 games for NQ) as well as missing out this week for that head knock from Hayen so both these players could very well be dropped due to injury regardless of how rubbish they actaully were on Wednesday, the Tele will think they're genuises though....

Guerra is f**king rubbish and should never have been picked. Feel free to go to town on the QRL for picking the muppet.

guerra looked fairly slow. a bit like Galloway was for the Origin arena. interestingly though, he did well to nearly put on and score a try until dugan made THAT tackle. that may save him.

it was just one of those nights for QLD where NSW defenders were holding potential tries up. it's not like QLD couldn't get over the line or get through the defence. they had several chances really. theirs just didn't come off. about time they had a dirty night.

To be fair Boyd has been the Australian and QLD fullback while Billy has just come back from about 2 years off with injury. The plan could have always been to get a few more games into Billy before bringing him in.

Exactly. That's why he should have played.

Are you suggesting he would have only been say 95% or so fit Wednesday night???

Keith Galloway & SOO. Words that make me shudder.

Saw on the triple m NRL Facebook that the Maroons might not even pick Slater for game 2.

The Rugby League purist in me hopes they pick Slater for Game 2.

The NSW fan in me hopes the QRL show that famous Queensland Loyalty (TM) and pick the exact same 1-17 for Game 2...

I'm glad you finally have a couple of games to look forward to mate, Newy would be a mindf$&@ of a team to support at the moment.

Yeah honestly there's barely any viable options for the Maroons in the forwards this year. Besides the obvious picks like McGuire, Gillett and Papali'i the others are either debutants or over the hill. Great for NSW though.

I think he should have played but it's the only reason I could see him being left out. I don't see the QLD hierarchy being overly loyal to Boyd as Slater has helped them to so much success and Boyd can stay in the team at wing.

If they're at home and not playing a top 4 team, it's worth keeping updated at the very least because they can get a result (like the game against the Raiders).

It's not fixtures like Storm away that bother me most, it's the games we've seen against teams like Souths, Canterbury and Penrith where you can legitimately say Knights were dudded.

After thinking about it for a while, i fear Valentine Holmes more then i fear Slater. May sound crazy but hear me out. Queensland have a lot of older or out of form forwards. They also miss Matt scott immensly. They really struggled to get any go forward. This started from the kick. Blues were kicking straight to oates, pinning him down in his corner. What this did was eliminate oates from tabling a power hit up early in the set. Without oates it was up to the other members of the back 5 to get the go forward. O'neill was shithouse at this Boyd isn't good at this, while chambers and gagai are ok at it. This gave new south wales the forward advantage before the forwards were even involved. By comparison the blues back 5 done a great job of betting a roll on going. With this battle won it severely limited queenslands creative players, Boyd being one of them. Would Slater being able to succeed where Boyd failed? Boyd is no slouch. He has been great for Queensland and australia over the last 18 months. He has combined well with smith cronk and Thurston. I don't believe slater would have been anymore effective if he was in boyd's place on Wednesday. Qld will lose O'Neill, a huge bonus. But how he is replaced will be of interest. If slater comes in you can kick to oates and have slater, Boyd, gagai and chambers to start the roll on. If Holmes comes in you'd stick to kicking to oates but now Holmes, gagai, chambers and boyd will help start the roll on. If queensland get rolling Boyd will be back to his damaging best.

Holmes is a better player than Oates who I think is in the side to supplement the pretty ordinary forward pack we've rolled out. Very much like the broncos at the moment I just don't see where the metres are coming from.

Thats why i think if qld replace oates with Holmes they'll stick with the same tactic, bomb down to Holmes so he can't take any hit-ups. Holmes is a better kick returner though

I completely agree. If I'm NSW I'm a lot more nervous kicking to Slater and Holmes though than I am with Oates and Boyd. Ive got a sneaking suspicion that Bennett will move Oates into the forwards next year where I believe he can still be a rep player.

Sneaking suspicion? Not based on Oates signing a one year deal because he's not happy with winger money?
