Can't believe some douche bags on here are actually thinking about Thurston and Slaters replacements. After 1 bad game????? HAAAAAAAAAAA if it was 7-0 now in NSW favour, half you inbred's would have ended yourselves by now.

DCE is a gun, but I think another prop on the bench would have been more value. Really happy that Hannat wasn't selected, cast your minds back last year game 3. He was huge in that game and I think he outplayed Tamou. With Harrison gone I suspect more holes will be visible for NSW, really happy they left him out. This match will make or break for Paps, yes he's big and strong, but the pace of the game may be a bit to much for him.

How long was Queensland meant to stay loyal to Harrison for?

He's been ordinary for the Maroons since 2011.

Similar could be said about Shillo.

This has nothing on past NSW changes.

Dear oh dear.
We're simply entertaining the thought that Mal's picked DCE because both Cronk and Thurston are 30 years old and looked flat.
Therefore injecting some energy into the game like Cronk did before Lockyer retired, you do realise this has been done before? Thought you would consider it was at the expense of NSW:lol:

sam Thaiday was pretty average as well all last year, so was slater and Matt Scott. Why didn't they get the boot?

Only one specialist front rower? What the hell are they thinking?

If NSW had of gone with a similar balance, they would have been laughed at.

I have no idea why we have suddenly gone away from our winning formula of 3-4 front rowers + Myles and Thaiday.

Very few.
Some were harping on about Slater/Thurson/Cronk but how are the backs supposed to fire when the forwards were lacklustre?
Most were calling for some pack replacements.

Like I said, even these two previous years, at times QLD has looked quite uninspiring and I think DCE can add a bit of spark when it's lacking.
And in the long term he can be groomed to replace one of the two, two birds one stone.
I do think we should have gone with a forward but the team is the team.

Papa v Gal.

GAME ON!!

Congrats to Papa, the kid is a bloody star, he will be in that QLD jumper for a long long time. Still think the QLDers are light on, and NSW should beat them

I agree with Shillington and Harrison being dropped, but I mean seriously, no Hannant? He was sensational last night and has been all year for the Broncos, injury cloud or not, he should've been there -

8) Matt Scott
10) Ben Hannant
11) Nate Myles
12) Sam Thaiday
13) Corey Parker

14) Josh Papalli
15) Matt Gillett
16) Ben T'eo
17) Chris McQueen

So much better..

I don't think the answer to fixing the problem with the forwards is to have only one specialist prop in the team and if anything they needed some more props for some go foward which the actually needed. Having 7 back rowers in the side is more of a NSW game plan, one that which QLDers would have been laughing at. And those some posters are the ones who are usually on the NSW threads trolling, my statements were more directed towards them.

QLD is still short a few props, tbh.

You can get away with having one backrower playing prop (QLD have Myles, NSW have Gallen). But a prop-less bench is going nowhere.

Scott
Smith
Myles
Papalii/McQueen (replaced Civoniceva from last year, Myles to prop)
Thaiday
Parker

Gillett
Te'o (replaced Taylor from last year)
Hannant
Shillington

This should have been the team. DCE has no utility value, but Gillett does. Harrison is past his prime and with Parker there is surplus to requirements, but drop DCE and one of McQueen or Papalii for two of the three available big boppers for QLD - Hannant, Shillington or Kennedy (18th man). Sure, two of them aren't in the best form and one is just back from injury, but even as a NSW fan it was obvious to me that QLD did not field a fierce pack in the first game.

This mobile BS doesn't work. No issue with a capable lock like Myles or Gallen shifting up to prop, but no more than that. There should be at LEAST three specialist props in the team. NSW are fielding Merrin, Woods and Fifita. QLD should be fielding Scott, and two of Hannant, Shillington and Kennedy. At the moment, they have...Scott. ONE player who is a noted prop. Hmm...

You would think so but didn't NSW do a similar thing last game and didn't even use their player?

I think that's a great team, DCE is slightly puzzling but Cronk and Thurson have looked a bit dusty so perhaps DCE will be injected later into games, we've actually needed someone like that for a few series now.

The team line up wasn't the problem last game, it was the execution...hopefully the squad will fire this time.

That is true, but going into that game neither side had the advantage. NSW have a better forward pack than Qld, their forwards dominating was a major part in the Blues' convincing performance (and victory) in Game 1. If I were the Qld selectors, I would have done everything possible to match NSW in the forwards for Game 2. Granted, this is Origin and I have written off players before who subsequently turned in a solid performance, but my biggest concern looking at the match ups going into this one is Merritt. I'm sure Qld will improve on their performance last match, but I'm fairly confident NSW will improve as well, especially in the area that allowed Qld back into the contest- ball control.

For the first time in 7 years in a live rubber am I truly worried about being beaten at Suncorp. No props = no go forward. Hannant... I am just flummoxed!

No Ferguson, no Hayne, no Stewart and Farah is barely in on field condition. I don't quite understand what you're concerned about.

for our backs to outplay nsw backs we need field position. To get field position one needs metre-eaters.
