QLD is still short a few props, tbh.
You can get away with having one backrower playing prop (QLD have Myles, NSW have Gallen). But a prop-less bench is going nowhere.
Scott
Smith
Myles
Papalii/McQueen (replaced Civoniceva from last year, Myles to prop)
Thaiday
Parker
Gillett
Te'o (replaced Taylor from last year)
Hannant
Shillington
This should have been the team. DCE has no utility value, but Gillett does. Harrison is past his prime and with Parker there is surplus to requirements, but drop DCE and one of McQueen or Papalii for two of the three available big boppers for QLD - Hannant, Shillington or Kennedy (18th man). Sure, two of them aren't in the best form and one is just back from injury, but even as a NSW fan it was obvious to me that QLD did not field a fierce pack in the first game.
This mobile BS doesn't work. No issue with a capable lock like Myles or Gallen shifting up to prop, but no more than that. There should be at LEAST three specialist props in the team. NSW are fielding Merrin, Woods and Fifita. QLD should be fielding Scott, and two of Hannant, Shillington and Kennedy. At the moment, they have...Scott. ONE player who is a noted prop. Hmm...
