If the players cared they'd make more of an effort to hang into the ball instead of giving it away so easily.

The weeks they do hold onto the ball though most blokes here still say they don't care...and you criticise Bennett's emphasis on mistake free football when that is something we obviously needed to do better tonight and not doing it cost us more than anything - funny that.

They couldn't keep getting up for games like they did tonight when our season has been over for ages if they didn't care. You can't play the premiers and hold them to mostly a few lucky tries if you don't have any commitment or desire.

They care. Just nothing going right for us this year.

Best thing for us is to put a broom through the place and plan for 2015.

Never pays overs? Most of our team are on overs, $400k a pop for Snowden, Boyd and Gidley, $500k for the 6th best winger in the game, $500k for Beau Scott (don't get me wrong he's a good player but certainly not worth $500k). Bloke has done nothing but pay overs his whole time here.
I gave Bennett the benefit of the doubt until a few weeks ago but I think the old fellas had his day, the game is about adaptation and innovation and he hasn't got either in him.

In this day and age, that sort of income isn't as impressive as it once was. When the salary cap was 3.5 million, we had johns on 500K, Kennedy, O'davis and Macdougall on 300K. The salary cap is almost double what it was then, which means a player like Scott is on less than Kennedy. The 400K we are giving Snowden would be equivalent to around 250K back then.

The average player income was 150K back then, so it is a touch short off 300k now. So paying Snowden 400K is very reasonable to me.

I do agree with you that we are paying massive overs for Gidley, in spite of how large the cap is now.

$400k is a decent salary, Snowden has certainly underwhelmed, not even city country level, in fact I'd say he's not in the top 15 props in the game, he's on top 10 money. $500k is more than any other winger in history and right now Aku is not even a top 5 winger, even when he signed he wasn't a top 3 winger.

For only the second time I can remember (last week was the first) I haven't watched the game nor chased a score.

Seems it was the right call. Kudos for you lot in putting yourself through it, I can't do it.

Same old story it looks like. Seems a lot more pain to be endured, just wonder where all our bad karma is coming from.

My point is the tough times make the good times so much better when they come.

The players did care in defence otherwise the score would have been over 50 with the amount of ball and field position the roosters had in the second half.

If you can't watch the games now then don't run around in your knights gear telling everyone what a dedicated supporter you are when we win a premiership

Whilst the focus has been on our sh!t house attack, our defence in the second half was diabolical.

We are lights years away from last year in terms of defensive structure where there are cracks as wide as the Sydney heads in our defensive line.

We have the second worst defensive record and there appears to be more to our problems in the team than just lack of cattle.

This completely, and I was starting to think I was the only one that cared more about how terrible our defense had become than how pretty or unpretty our attack looks.

I can see our attack improving slightly, and it will come on a lot when we start winning and get some confidence and when blokes like Mullo, Boyd and Gagai get back into form.

In order to get that confidence though we need to win games and that isn't going to happen while we're defending the way we are. During most games we haven't been able to defend one set after an error or a penalty. One part is because I think we need a wrestling coach, and the other I think is attitide. I do think they're trying in every game, but the moment things start going bad (we give away a penalty, an error, the game starts swinging to the opposition) the heads go down and we capitulate.

It doesn't matter how pretty our attack looks, we won't win a game with our current frail defensive mindset.

I was going to, but as soon as I saw Clint Newton was named in the final 17...

For the second half of last year I thought Snowden was one of the best props going around. However having half a good season in 2.5 years is definitely not good value for money. I just wish he had more motivation. I'm sick of seeing him start the year overweight and unfit. When we had Macdougall his value would have equated to over 500k and he was a winger.

Yeah he's definitely getting paid overs at this point in time. I haven't given up on him though. Last night he definitely turned back the clock and showed how dangerous he is.

Aku has really come back to life since switching to the left. I'd love to see the rest of the team get behind him. He led some pretty average Knights teams to a lot of wins in some of our darker days. If there's one player that has a real track record in lifting our club, it's Akuila Uate at his best.

When everyone goes on about Aku's salary he never seems to get any credit for what he's done for us through the years. Yes he's a winger, but for a long time he was our most important player and the only bloke that could do anything for us. We were winning games purely off his freakish efforts.

When he signed his last contract he was still very much that guy for us. It doesn't matter if he's a winger, your most important player should be getting the highest salary regardless of whether they're a winger, a half, or a prop. Now Mullo has stepped up and become our most important he's our highest paid player. Yes Uate's form has dropped these days (although he's getting better again now) but he certainly deserved all that and more when he was re-signed.

I think he's getting there to be honest. His last few games (minus those dropped balls against Manly) have been great. It was great to see him beat the opposition with speed to score the last try last week and make that break last night. He's obviously not as consistently dangerous as he used to be but it's a start.
