R19 vs Broncos

Assuming we are allowed to play Aekins. Peachey fit means might be made play as is and Whare needs to play there.

This is where the rule is shit. They follow the US style as far as squads. Yet in NBA or NFL. You call in injury replacements as you need so always have a full squad. Same should apply here
Whare just tweaked his ankle ;-)

That would be better. The NRL telling clubs which players can play in a position is rubbish.

Only Melb,Sharks or the Roosters can win the comp

Looks like it.

Never going to be happy after getting so comprehensively thumped but as usual the response here is way over the top.

The representative season and horrific injury toll was always going to bite us at some point and that time is now.

There's a lot of football still to be played and it is important that we respond positively.

Some people love losses more I am sure. That is the only thing that kept me watching the 2nd half. To see how we finished and was much better.

Now to start games like that.. Having the same 17 each week would be helpful too

What Maloney said in the Press Conference is down right disturbing. Not being worried after the team put in a completely gutless performance, with him being by far the worst player and COMPLETLY failing to LEAD as Captain.

We are just awful at appointing Captains. Wallace was the only decent choice we have made in the last few seasons but he was busted and at careers end.
Realist, you should comply with your own name and be realistic. In case you hadn't noticed we are in the top 8, led by a bloke who played half the season without a proper halfback and half the roster in casualty at Nepean.

I had the great misfortune to watch it in QLD with a commentary team consisting entirely of ex Broncos. A commentary team that failed to mention whether Luai had left the field until 20 minutes later. Ennis, Hodges, Waters. It was a bad performance but the commentary was worse. There is plenty of vitriol flowing in the forum, but here are my thoughts on the game.
  1. Luai was a bad choice at fullback. He was directly responsible for two tries being scored by being in the wrong position. Bennett targeted the space where a fullback should have been and it paid off. Great coaching. Hook's call on Luai was a bad decision, but that's football, sometimes you make the wrong call.
  2. The complaints about Cleary were given a proper airing in that game. His attacking kick repertoire is basically a midfield bomb. The first time he did a grubber we score. He has to work on his kicking in the off season. His attacking kicking is below average for a halfback.
  3. Crichton's lack of pace was there for all to see. Bennett targeted him and it paid off. Great coaching.
  4. The ref's decided to penalise us for everything and overlook what the Broncos were doing. The penalty for Hetherington falling on a player with nobody holding him was disgraceful. and showed a complete lack of awareness by the ref. The pulling of CHN's hair for no penalty and the constant penalties without a sin bin, seem like home town reffing to me. However, it didn't effect the result, just the margin. We were gassed because they had 70% of the ball for the entire first half.
  5. It seems people on here don't understand Maloney. They cite missed tackles as evidence he is rubbish. They say he didn't try. What I saw was a player trying everything to lift his team. Sure, he gave away a penalty for a shoulder charge. He threw an intercept, but it was all done because he was trying too hard, not because he wasn't trying enough. He was also behind a forward pack that was dominated and owned. Even when we got a roll on we inevitably dropped the ball or gave away a penalty. He had a bad game but not because of lack of effort.
  6. Peachey looks great when he comes on when all the hard work is done and the other team is tired. We should continue to use him that way.
  7. CHN made a real positive impact of the bench, his aggression was needed.
  8. We need RCG's aggression back, he is the drummer of the band. The beat that ties the song together. He would have smashed Gillete into Caxton street when he was strutting around like a Peacock. RCG's value to the team is not in stats, it is in attitude. (EDIT Doh, I mean't McGuire).

Maloney in the press conference said he wasn't worried about it. Our captain lol.
What did you expect him to say? If he didn't have a record of being a serial winner and was 21 years old, I would be concerned. Maloney has said at times we were poor, even when we have won. He know what it takes to win. I bet he let the team know how bad they were in the dressing room, doing it publicly is not the way to lead people.

Maloney was the worst player on the field by a large margin.

I think we win last night with the same circumstances if we have May at 6 instead of Maloney. I turned it off last night but watched today without the emotion.
You blame Maloney for the loss? Wow, that's a big call. I guess the 57 running metres for Merrin, and 65 for Tamou as our starting props are his fault (Leota had 66m). The five errors from Crichton and Katoa are his fault. What about the eight missed tackles by Kikau?

He had a bad game, but he had plenty of help and our forwards just never got on top until late in the second half.

I disagree he was the worst. Luai and Crichton were worse. But that has nothing to do with what he said at the press conference. He was being criticised for what he said, not how he played.

We also still somehow made more meters than Brisbane.

The interview with him at the airport on their way home clarified his position well. He seemed very filthy on himself. It was good to see. That's what I expect after a 50 point loss.

There was a lot here but good analysis.

We just had 50 put on us. You think our lack of preparation for the game is a positive?

Someone's clutching at straws. But it isn't us.

The Origin period is behind us and we have our strongest roster available in months. Yet we played our worst game of the season. Now is not time for fun and games. It's time for hard work and trying to cement a top 4 spot.
Hard work is a question of science. The club's trainers will be monitoring their fatigue levels and would know whether they needed more training or not. Overtraining leads to injuries and since we seem to agree we are the fittest team in the comp, I think you have to back their call on this one.

We lost the game without RCG, DWZ, Edwards, McKendry, Wallace and Brown in our top 30 roster. Maybe that had more of an impact than RSI from playing at Timezone.

I don't blame him. I think he looked off after not training all week with his foot injury. He said himself he was frustrated and I bet lack of training effected things. May would have had an entire week and more of a calming influence.

As bad as Jimmy played his captaincy was even worse. He has never been a leader and I can't see how this will change at his age.
