I know have a sudden and inexplicable impulse to put on my blu-ray copy of Skyfall. Not sure why.

Great movie, one of the better Bonds.

I'll shameless name drop here but I met Daniel Craig at the Lions games, nice fella, happy to chat. That was the highlight of a otherwise sh*t game, f**k rah rah is boring.

It's a well-known fact Newcastle don't get the home-town decisions other clubs have the luxury of receiving...

Yes but you have to intimidate it out of them. In the golden days refs nearly pissed their pants when assigned a home game at Marathon. Today we are like a golf crowd. I would love to see a huge push for a supporter group such as The Crusade through club channels. A bit of PR. Not enough lunatic fans.

The new admin have made it abundantly clear they want a golf crowd. It isnt that they dont help, it is that they deliberately obstruct what we have been trying to do for the past 8 years. We were finally getting somewhere and when Tinkler took over everything evaporated overnight. I would be surprised if there even is a crusade next year.

That would be shithouse to put it mildly. Don't give up brother.

Why?

The 'real' fans dont want chants, support, flags, banners or instruments.

Just sit there, boo at a ref once or twice a game and never leave your seat. Thats how RL fans should watch the game.

Disagree on the chants!

Nothing better than the New-Cas-tle chant going.

The new-cas-tle chant should be left to occur organically and naturally. It loses meaning and intensity when it's trotted out too often. It's a big-game, big-moment chant for mine.

Pretty sure old Timbo was taking the piss

Exactly. He stated everything that is wrong with Newy crowds right now. Went to the Manly Warrirs game in Gosford and the Warriors fans absolutely owned the place. I miss that passion at Knights games.

Ahh, I read what Tim was referring to and he was indeed taking of the piss.

I don't get to go to many live Knights games so I haven't noticed. I'd probably be too busy getting into the game myself to notice what others are doing anyway.

That's the biggest bull I have read this week.

Refs don't go out there favouring one team over another, they call it how they see it not how the crowds reacts.

I'm going to assume you are taking the piss so I don't totally denegrate you by comparing that above quote to something that Kmav's brain would think of.

In saying all of that, I genuinely think crowd noise/participation is directly related to on-field performances. The atmosphere at Hunter/EAS/Marathon/whatever disappeared the moment we started to struggle.

On-field performances are improving (still a way to go), but hopefully somewhere down the track we can get that atmosphere back. The way the ground is structured now would make it easy to get some atmosphere - just need willing participants.

Nailed it. I think the fans confidence is fragile and when things start to come unstitched, the crowd takes a depth breath, gets nervous and goes quiet.

I did think the crowd got very vocal against the Roosters and I think as our performances and consistency improves, so will the crowds intensity.

To Macs point, whichever genius decided to encourage a golf crowd obviously doesn't want to pack the place out, vocal crowds are passionate crowds and they are the ones that will turn up ran, hail or shine.

If that's fair dinkum and I don't doubt Mac then HSG is run by half wits.

I wonder if we'll be wearing our Close the Gap jerseys. We always play well in them for some reason.

There is no fact behind what you guys are stating, your just turning in the warriors fans who think the entire world is against them on match day.

Refs go out there to do a job and they call the game like they see it none of this favouring one side over another some myth you knights fans think.

Actually I've read American studies that have shown that due to various factors, one of which is a boisterous and pressuring home crowd, referees favour the home team a lot of the time, whether it is subconscious or not.
