I think we are all surprised at our performances thus far especially our forwards but Im not yet fully convinced that we can sustain our early form especially against the top 4 or 5 teams.....whilst Im generally excited about what stage we are at because for me its totally unexpected Im just pulling back a little and not getting to carried away.....we have gone from bottom 3 to now talk of maybe the 8 or even the top 4 and thats fine but its very early days yet

Agree.

I had us bottom 4, now I have us fighting for a top 8 spot. We are far from challenging but we are also now far from spoon material. Onwards !

If we sign Fifita, Mcguire then we have more than enough forward depth to cover injuries during the year and make the top 8....i believe 13 wins gets u into the top 8 this year....10 more to go from 21 remaining games...

Eels strength lies in the middles. RCG, Paulo and Brown with their hooker playing off the back of them.

We need to hold strong early in the game and stop their go forward with line speed and stopping the offloads. Kicking early to turn them around is an option to somewhat nullify that with a good kick-chase.
I think we have their forwards measure but we don't have them in the backs where i believe their advantage lies over us...Gutherson is really the difference here, I think Sivo and Rava will cancel out...but their halves along w Reed Mahoney from dummy half are very dangerous...will be close

Possible ravalawa injured you might see Pereira on the other side we will see ....

Noooo. I want to see Rava vs Sivo !

Edit : team just appeared. phew Rava's there.

Ramsey and Bird up against Niukore and Fergo, tough job. Periera made 263 mtrs and 2 line breaks last year against the Eels.

Side note... did anyone see/hear Brad Arthur talking to the media post-game last night? He made reference to the fact that the Tigers scored two tries off kicks and the Eels emphasis on the 'power game' this season. Mary says hello.

Win, Lose or Draw this week - I'm expecting us to make a good account of ourselves and take only positives away from the game.

Will be my first time attending a game at BankWest Stadium. Looking forward to it. Go the Big Red V !!
Enjoy mate, It is a good stadium to watch.
The only thing that’s painful are the constant booing from the eels supporters. Unfortunately some refs are easily swayed by it.

I said earlier in this thread that I didn't think we could match it with Parra but having just watched yesterday's Parra vs Wests game and having a look back at the stats and team lists from our last meeting with Parra ( we won 14 - 12 in round 14 , 2020 ) I'm thinking we're in with a chance here. While Parra will have the same starting pack and spine that we overcame last year and only their 2 centres and bench different form that game we will have 9 different players including some decent upgrades. We were missing Sims and Vaughan and will have Bird, McCullough, Ramsey and our new bench all raring to go after a brutal and dominant performance against Newcastle. Our completions were fairly high and missed tackles very low so we'll have to do that again to be a chance.
The Tigers had no line speed for a good part of yesterdays game and RCG, Paulo, Brown and Papali'i made big metres and gave their halves all the time in the world but when the Tiges got some quick play the balls and a few off loads happening they really troubled Parra. Douhei's big bombs really troubled Parra's back 3 as well.
If I could have a quick chat with Hook I'd be whispering Ramsey out Periera in but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

I'll say it'll be very close but Saints by 4.

Oh for sure kit66.! We have to turn up etc but we can get them. They like to go out hard and hope to bully their opponents; stay with them and they get flustered easy. Compete and composure and we’re in it. Their back 3 are strong but also plenty of mistakes at times. Let’s go!

That’s more like it Kit, I’m quietly confident again. I think we’ve got them in another upset.

Put my winnings from last week on this week at the same price $3.50 yesterday morning.

I’m actually looking forward to Ramsay v Fergo with Bird and Sims there to help out. Ramsay will be on a mission after last week. Rava/Lomax/Kerr on the other side are pretty formidable too. People saying we have the forwards but don’t have the backs are a going to be in for a nice shock I hope.

Clune will be better this week.

Dufty will win it for us with another stunner around Gutherson.

We've won in hostile environments twice already this year. Cows and Knights at their home grounds.

I'm not necessarily expecting a win against one of the premiership favourites (especially without Hunt), but we will make a good account of ourselves. Hook has proven the team can deliver that at the very least (win or lose).

Tell you what though, if we can roll Parra at BankWest, I'll be jumping on that bandwagon towards the semi finals quick smart.
If we beat Parra I expect every poster in here to create their own thread minutes after full time.
Mine will be called ALL ABOARD!

I agree Dragons-4Life. I would like to see Daniel Alvaro start the game with instructions to (legally) make every tackle on Parramatta’s big forwards hurt. I believe the game against the Knights may have taken a bit out of Paul Vaughan and he will benefit by coming onto the field after the initial high impact period is over. I would also like to see our kickers keep the ball in play and make Parramatta run as much as possible to get back on side
