Sims in for Costigan again, Cyldsdale will replace Hilder. Doesn't look like Mullen will be playing now f**k

Clydsdale has been tipped to be our future hooker and captain for years, he's got all the traits Cameron Smith has. He tops the tackle counts, he sets up tries and has a fantastic kicking game and leadership skills. He's one of the best kids we've brought up in years, really looking forward to seeing him play in first grade.

Well if the theory that Gidley deliberately doesn't give the ball to Roberts are true, does this mean that if he gets tackled he'll refuse to play the ball back to Clydsdale? :?

Clydesdale was talked out of signing with Manly by Wayne, who are fuming we re-signed him. He was all but signed by Manly until we pulled another Snowy, the difference being he was already under contract here. He is rated by many as a future rep hooker. Means nothing to me that bulls###! Just puts undue pressure on the kid. The Cam Smith comparisons are not far off the mark either as far as skill and leadership go.

While I love the idea of Clydesdale being another Cameron Smith, I'll reserve judgement. We've had a few 'next big things' come through who haven't delivered.

All the best to him tomorrow though :)

In light of results so far, we've got another chance to open up a four-point gap between ourselves and sixth spot just like we did prior to the Sharks game last week (if only for an hour or so dependent on Titans/Dragons result).

What have we learnt from last week?

We have to be sure that we stick to the systems in place as when we do we can beat anyone. Kurt needs to just play straight at the line. Nothing more and nothing less. His sideways running infuriates me. Be more Foran like. Make the defenders make a choice. It never ceases to amaze me how many playmakers are reluctant to take on the line. This belief that they have to distribute the ball every time is rather boring and in many respects takes away from the team in a way. Bulldogs play the ball through the forwards and the halves roll of of that.

Well what the f**k is the club waiting for??? Should be a walk up start every week. Imagine having a number 9 that can actually kick out of dummy half. Now there's an idea.

Be really interesting if he has a blinder at 9 what Bennett does for the next few weeks. If he's an "actual" hooker where would that leave Gids? Gotta find a place for him somewhere.

Slightly off topic, but remember back to the height of the Buderus/Smith rivalry? It was embarrassing watching Brian Smith trying to get Buderus to all of a sudden change his game by kicking out of dummy half. That masterstroke tactic only lasted a handful of games from memory.

Well Buderus did start his career as a halfback. If any hooker could pick up the skill of kicking a ball, then it should have been him..

And the flip side of that was Buderus, who was 30 or so years old and a very long way into his first grade career at the time, had never really demonstrated the ability to kick the ball from dummy half.

Generally players move from one position to another early in their career because their skill set or physical attributes are not adequate for that position, or better suited to another. Looking at Buderus, I'm going to guess that it wasn't his physical attributes that resulted in his shift from the halves to hooker.

If he wanted to play half at the Knights, he had a pretty handy 7 in front of him....

With skills like that, it takes countless hours of practice. He hadn't had a need to practice for the past 10 years or so, you can't just pick it up immediately even if you are a skilled player.

Brian Smith just could not help himself. It was like he was each week trying to revolutionise the way the game was played.

Good luck boys. I'm at work again, so I will get to watch the game after I finish at 5, get home, have a shower, take my mum out for dinner, get home again, then maybe, if the GF doesn't want to watch the voice, I can watch the game. Yay
