I've thought about it a fair bit actually and I tend to agree with you now Itsa. At first I thought we shouldn't stand in his way but gee, if we let him go and Cook was to get injured, it could be be an absoulute disaster.

Hold onto him now Souths.
I hope Seibs is thinking!!

We do not have a back up in the class of Farah...

Farah may start sooking soon though... with the way Tigers are going if they pay for him no doubt he slots straight in there. How can the Tigers afford him and Mbye though halfway through the year??

I do agree that rumours should come with some form of source. It's what gives credibility to the story and strengthens the legitimacy of it.

Put it this way, Saturday morning at work a few of us were discussing Victor Radley and all agreed that Sydney should look to move Friend on and play Radley at 9. What's to then stop one of us from posting on a site that Sydney are going to do just that and claim it as a rumour?

Giving rumours a source actually opens up discussion on it and seperates the legit rumours from the throw away stories.

why on earth would we weaken our options going into the second half of the season?
For about 1/4 of Farah's salary to be added to our cap.

Depending on what Farah's actually on this year (some sources say 450k, others say 600) that's between 112k and 150k.

So hypothetically even if we weren't happy with our other options to cover Cookie, we could sign another cheaper option for the rest of this season and still have a chunk of that money to help us retain players for next year.

I'm undecided on whether we should or not, but that's the only logical reason I can think of for letting him go.

He isn't bringing it up so people will talk about the rumour though mate.

He's bringing it up so (gullible) people will think he has inside information because he thinks it will lend credibility to his arguments when people disagree with him.

The only reason not to share where you heard something on an anonymous forum is that you made it up.

It’s a real tough one with Farah, isn’t it?Ideally we’d be able to release him so he can go out how he chooses. But the lack of a good alternative backup is a genuine risk that we don’t need to take.

But the boys are really playing for each other this year. You can really see how they enjoy playing together. Maybe there are genuine intangible benefits if the players can see that they’ll genuinely be taken care of and not just treated like business capital.

I dunno. Glad I don’t have to make the call.

Personally i dont like rocking the boat. Weve come this far, we have some injuries weve covered ok, but farrah plays half and lock if needed, and its all very noble to let him finish on his own terms but how would it be we play the tigers down the track and he buries us.
I say leave it alone.
Exactly my thoughts handyman.

It's funny how things work out, initially I didn't want Souths to sign Farah and now I don't want him to go.

Holding Farah could rock the boat more than releasing him.
We can always put a clause in the deal that he sits out round 19. It's happened before.

Seibold is a smart man and I trust in whatever decision he makes on Farah, team and individual harmony is very important and Farah has done the right thing by us.
As he should do the right thing, he gets to play some, Sit some, go on trips and recieve awards, play min time , as well as a hefty paypacket. All weve done is look after him and if and when we need, he should be there, without any BS, he has had it easy and i think he owes us.

A page on FB has posted that Ivan Cleary has a meeting tonight with the Wests board to get approval for two signings.
Apparently Farah is definitely one of them but the other isn't as public though it's expected to be Curtis Rona.

I've had a flick through previous posts and they only seem to have strong rumours or confirmed news.

Also claims Jaydn Sua will re-sign with Brisbane.

Curtis Rona? Surely after all their signings for this year they wouldn't have enough coin left to drag him away from his Rugby contract.
He wouldn't come cheap!

As for Sua if true, there sure will be a lot of red faces on various league sites who claimed that we had him and Papalii in the bag!

Well the Papalii deal came on the back of Shannon Boyd leaving so it would seem to me that whatever money they were setting aside for Boyd was then used to keep Papalii.

I get the impression that our cap is still a bit tight to have the ability to force a players hand into signing for us.

For what it's worth, both are remaining with their current clubs. We're not being beaten to signatures by another club.
