I think George is clearly carrying injury as there is no way Wayne plays him for that length of time under normal circumstances. Hopefully he can shake it off and improve on his fitness in the coming weeks. His form lately is simply not good enough and we need a big improvement.

This is what I’m leaning towards. George’s good games are very rare these days. He’s coming off contract as well demanding big money from the sounds of it. Bennett is probably challenging him to earn that contract. The manly game he was diabolical but that was more of a referee error he wasn’t supposed to be on the field that long.

He probably earns as much as his 3 bench mates combined yet hasn't outperformed any of them and Tatola has made that starting spot his.

Closer to reserve grade than a new contract imo.

Yes, I agree.
I'm kinda happy with what we got. I am not overly impressed with Bird. If we gotta go after a centre I'd rather Souths went real big and targeted either of the Rooster pairing, if not, stick with what we got.

Mitchell isn't off contract until the end of 2020, not sure about Manu.

In regards to George, I agree that he's playing very average at the moment for sure but I kind of reserve my judgement until he gets properly fit. The next few weeks will be very interesting.

If whats on the SMH about us only adding the overs on GIs pay on our cap we are laughing.
Eg. We are paying him 300k if the salary cap auditor deems us as paying say 150k over what the job is worth then that goes on our cap, good outcome i think.

Looking more into it though he states he will see out his contract until the end of 2020. However in saying that maybe we can do a sneaky and get him in after November the 1st if he doesn’t extend.

To be honest this is more wishful thinking than anything. In my opinion it’s gonna be more than money that determines Mitchell’s decision. He doesn’t strike me as that kind of player. I think the big key is we offer him that fullback position and we pay GI to coach him. He would take a season to get used to the role but he could be a more damaging fullback than Tedesco. I can dream.

Yeah 95% he'll stay at Easts.
