Auva'a to appeal indefinite suspension

Kirisome Auva'a has sought leave to appeal the severity of his suspension for domestic violence after being stood down until round 22 this year.
Auva'a, who is off contract at the end of the season, was suspended indefinitely after a Melbourne magistrate imposed a $3000 fine and a two-year good-behaviour bond on the Rabbitohs centre for attacking his former girlfriend in a jealous rage. The NRL has told Auva'a he will need to complete a range of courses and programs covering issues including violence against women, alcohol abuse and anger management.
The appeal will go before NRL appeals tribunal chairman Ian Callinan, QC.
NRL boss Dave Smith has previously stated Auva'a won't be eligible to return for a period of at least nine months. The NRL asked the Rabbitohs to remove images of Auva'a from a membership video last month.

I personally don't think Auva'a will get his suspension reduced to a possible return before Round 22.

What do you think on it NewcRabbit?

Why would Tom go to manly with no halves, the first thing manly need to do is get 2 new halves before they worry about anything else.

Hedges was the other in the back of my mind but I have seen neither. I heard someone give Coleman big raps in the pre-season, what is your assessment?

To be honest ive only seen him play 3 times and 2 of those were 1st grade trials where players were running on and off left right and centre but I would think he would need this full year in under 20s before we can properly judge where hes at.I would say I was stunned by the under 20s score last week, they have a lot of returning players and highly rated newcomers eg Crighton and Goolagong and they got flogged so Im not sure what level some of them are really at.

Tom would go to manly for $$$.

That's probably why manly signed Joe Kelly to CEO, he knows Souths players personally and by him signing Luke B other brothers may follow.

Rabbitohs High Performance Manager, Troy Thomson, has updated the Club on the condition of Kyle Turner following his neck injury in this year’s All Stars clash.

Thomson cited that a decision has been made this week by Kyle, in consultation with specialists and coaching staff to undergo disc-replacement surgery later this week.

“Kyle sustained a pretty serious injury to his neck,” said Thomson of the incident.

“That tackle caused an acute injury to the disc in his neck and that’s actually protruding onto the spinal cord, so he had some fairly significant neurological conditions there down through his arms – some pins and needles and tingling sensations.

“He was in hospital for two nights after that game and just under observation.

“We took a long time to make a decision and we went through the process very thoroughly – saw the best surgeons in Australia and came to a decision just this week to go in and do a disc replacement.”

Thomson added that while the Club was desperate to get the representative back-rower back on the field, his long-term interests were at the core of the decision to have the surgery done.

“We’re desperate to get him back, but we’re also making sure that his best interests are at heart,” said Thomson.

“That’s the reason for the lengthy decision. We’ve got a great team of specialists as well with our doctors and physios and of course the Coach weighing in as well.

“We sat down as a group and went through that decision and ultimately had Kyle make the final decision in terms of what he wanted to do and he spoke to his family at length too.

“We feel that this is going to be the best for him in the long run – he’ll get that surgery done later this week and we’ll start the recovery process and get him back as quick as we can.”

Rumour is we're after Sika Manu in Penrith.

Honestly i'd rather develop the likes of Sorensen, Gosiewski, Whitelaw, Gray, Crichton and Saumamao

Sorensen i believe will not kick on in first grade.

Sorensen too small to play in the back row. his position is a hooker however has issac luke and cam mcinnes infront of him. Waste of a cap space.

I really like the look Angus. However, i believe he is still a year away. Brock Gray is also about 2-3 years away, i wouldnt want to rush his development, a real specimen there.

In regards, to Sika i think would be a good signing for a 1-2 year contract off the bench. nothing substantial tho

Rabbitohs second-rower Kyle Turner will undergo disc replacement surgery this week after suffering a neck injury in this year's All Stars game.
Turner made the decision to undergo surgery after consultation with specialists and club coaching staff in a bid to improve his long-term future.
"Kyle sustained a pretty serious injury to his neck," Rabbitohs high performance manager Troy Thomson said.
"That tackle caused an acute injury to the disc in his neck and that's actually protruding onto the spinal cord, so he had some fairly significant neurological conditions there down through his arms – some pins and needles and tingling sensations.

Madge may want some experience though as well as obviously continuing the development of the young forwards.

I agree with you on Sorensen he's a hooker. Not big enough for 1st grade back row.

Whitelaw and Gosiewski may play a couple of games off the interchange this year if needed.

I wish Manly would stay away from attempting to take our players. I expect them to definitely keep trying in next 12 months. That fair dinkum idiot Joe Kelly!

Bloody filthy Moanly.

Interesting to see if he develops into a hooker, we do need a backup for McInnes if Issac gets injured.
