Inb4 Sutto to 6, Keary to 7 lol. Have never seen Cody play but surely it's his time

Honestly id rather Cody we may as well get the guy some first grade experience so we can cop without Reynolds if injuries occur. Plus Sutton can help with the kicking game also from second row.

Cody has now had a couple of matches for norths and he was signed to cover the halves, so it's time I think.

A broken thumb cost Mario FENECH an Aussie jumper.

Shouldn't have happened back then; & a player[of any genuine quality]shouldn't miss a game these days for a bloody broken thumb--fair dinkum!!

Good news on Sutto anyway.

Anyone tipping Cody to replace Reyno?

I think Madge should have named Cody at 6 and as R95 says Sutto can still contribute to our kicking game from the second row.

Cody definitely deserves a go with how well he's played for Norths.

At least we got the good news on Sutto we really needed it.

Cody WALKER has huge raps--he shouldn't be forsaken for a 108kg tortoise with a glass jaw & glass eye!!

Haha I agree Cody should be given his chance at no.6.

I don't know what's holding Madge back on this one?

Playing against his old club Cody could have a brilliant match and want to prove himself.

Rabbitohs Extend Contracts of Alex Johnston and Cameron McInnes Until End of 2017

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have extended the contracts of two South Sydney juniors today, with Alex Johnston and Cameron McInnes both committing to the Club until at least the end of 2017.

Johnston, 20, has played 27 NRL games since making his debut on ANZAC day against the Broncos last season, scoring 28 tries at a rate of more than one try per game to start his first grade career.

A product of the La Perouse Panthers, Johnston has gone on to make his debut for the Australian Kangaroos in the ANZAC Test this year.

McInnes, 21, has played 12 NRL matches to date, all of which have been for the Rabbitohs, having made his first grade debut against the Dragons in round five, 2014.

McInnes, originally from the Botany Rams club, captained the Rabbitohs’ under 20s squad for two seasons, was named in the Holden Cup Team of the Year in 2013, and went on to captain the Junior Kangaroos against the Junior Kiwis in 2014.

Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire sees big futures ahead for both Johnston and McInnes.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be extending the contracts of both ‘AJ’ and ‘Cam’,” Coach Maguire said.

“It always something special when you see Souths juniors coming through the ranks, and I’m really looking forward to working with both of them on a long term basis.

“Both of them have worked very hard to achieve what they have so far, and we know they are capable of much more as their careers progress.

“Both are young leaders amongst the playing group, and have served great apprenticeships in recent seasons under senior players like Greg Inglis, Nathan Merritt and Issac Luke.

“They’re both ready to take on greater roles on field now and we couldn’t be happier to have them commit to the Club long term.”

Johnston is happy to know his future lies in the Rabbitohs jersey.

“I’m really happy to have my future for the next few years sorted out and I’m even happier that the future is with Souths,” Johnston said.

“I love playing with this team, they’re my best mates, and playing for Souths is what I’ve always wanted to do.

“The Club has looked after me and developed me through the grades, along with the guys at Souths Juniors, and I’m looking forward to working hard and repaying the faith they have shown in me over the years.”

McInnes said it has always been his dream to wear the red and green of the Rabbitohs.

“I could not be happier about re-signing with Souths. It’s a dream come true,” McInnes said.

“Growing up playing for the Botany Rams, all we ever wanted to do was play for Souths, and to be able to represent the Club, the Members and the fans every week is something very special.

“I’m really happy to have my future at the Club sorted out and I’m really looking forward to the hard work ahead to help the team achieve its goals.”

I think Brown and McInnes got Cody's spot.

What about Gray, Auva'a & Turner? I'd re-sign Gray, Kirisome to the bears when his suspension is up then see if he's still any good, and if I was Turner I'd stay or depending on the injury retire. Grevs is a must obviously.

Grevsmuhl and Gray next imo.

It would be very good if Souths can hold onto Turner and Auva'a too.

Any NRL coach will tell you the importance of building combinations and the ties binding South Sydney's generation next stretch back most of their young lives.
The Rabbitohs received a giant boost on Tuesday when they re-signed star winger Alex Johnston and emerging hooker Cameron McInnes until the end of the 2017 season.
While everyone at the Rabbitohs' Redfern headquarters had a spring in their step following the duo putting pen to paper, there was no one happier than centre Dylan Walker.
Johnston, McInnes and Walker have been playing together since they were 13, when they made a Rabbitohs junior development side together, a team that also featured winger Aaron Gray, who made his Souths debut a fortnight ago.
Walker said he had Johnston pegged as something special the first time he laid eyes on him when they were 10.
He also lived down the road from McInnes when they were growing up in Botany.
"With those two re-signing, it's good for the fans and good for the members and good for the club," Walker said on Wednesday.
"And especially good for myself, having the boys around that I know really well. I've known Aaron since I was six-years-old, he's one of my best mates and it's enjoyable to have that feeling in the club."
Johnston, 20, has played 27 games for the Rabbitohs and made his Test debut in the Kangaroos' loss to New Zealand last month.
While McInnes, 21, has been ear-marked to wear the Rabbitohs No.9 jersey next year following the shock departure of New Zealand international Issac Luke to the Warriors from next season.
McInnes had been rumoured to be in negotiation with St George Illawarra however the Rabbitohs moved quickly to secure his signature following Luke's signing with the Warriors.
He started ahead of Luke against the Dragons on Monday night and has been named at hooker for the side's clash with Melbourne.
