It's a shame that despite the Lions being in relative hibernation for the past 15+ years, that it is still a stronger brand than England. Just shows how poorly the RFL have invested in England (and the other home nations)

Whether the team is called England or Great Britain will do little to fix the underlying problems.

English game will get dragged up as a flow on from a stronger nrl

Super league in Vegas helps them as does more young pommie players here

Good news about GB brand coming back. It always separated us from the much better known England rugby union team and GB was always a RL thing in UK.
. Given the lack of RLWC opportunity now for the other home nations players GB Lions is good to see.

@yakstorm you seem to know more about the international game than most.

If you could make some bold predictions, were do you see the game in 10, 25, 50yrs time ?

Will there be a 3rd professional comp ? Will there be anyone who could challenge Aus, NZ or Eng ?

At the risk of butting in on someone else's question... but you'd have to think at the current trajectory, Samoa and/or Tonga should be consistently competitive against the big 3 over the next 5-10 years.

But that could come at a cost if either one gets elevated to Tier 1 (by virtue of being consistently competitive) and forces their Origin players to make a choice.

Samoa and Tonga will never be Tier 1. Rugby Union is the main sport there and they're not even Tier 1 in that sport as we'll

Problem is the dont have any great depth and need their very best 17 eligible players to be on the field for them to have a chance.
England are no world beaters at moment but won the series 3-0 last year v Tonga
