I Think Widdop has definitely been affected by Benji being so erratic in attack..He is not sure what Benji will do next, and now his relationship with Mary is suffering because Mary keeps backing Benji..
And it is actually even worse than that. You need your halves to get their hands on the ball often, after all, they are your play makers. But our super coach has concocted an offensive structure that includes dummy half to JDB who takes one step forward and 2 sideways and passes to Cooper, who then takes one step forward and 2 sideways and passes to either Benji or Widdop (and don't forget, all this is happening at a glacial pace) who by this time are 10m in from the touch line with the defense in their face. The options from there are, submit to the tackle, continue with structure and deliver your fullback or centre the ball with no where to go, or have a brain snap and try something unrehearsed of which no one is expecting or prepared for. The end result of all these options are the same.....a big fat zero. But hey, if we do the same thing again next week we may just get a different result.....clueless.

So I believe one of them needs to be dropped.I say drop Benji and put Mann to 5/8. Widdop can run the show his way and Benji can retire.

Widdop could play himself put of a wet paper bag .. you want him to run the show? We are in more trouble than i thought...

Widdop has been ordinary all year regardless of whether Benji has been playing or not. He should be dropped and someone else given a go. Benji has created more opportunities, created more space for his outside backs, and has made the opposition nervous because they don't know what he will do next. Unfortunately last game what he did next was drop the ball - many times. He has to be dropped as well.

While where at it why not:

Rate Leeson Ah Mau
Rate: Josh Dugan
Rate: Euan Aitken
Rate: etc etc etc

Let's also:
Rate: Sam Burgess
Rate: Brett Stewart

Etc etc etc

The thread is pointless unless you are looking for an arguement. Seriously, you can rate soneone 10/10 and the next guy will say Bollocks ge's only a 4/10......commence arguement, name calling and general verbal diahrreah.
Wether you "rate" someone or not is only a valid point if you're willing to accept other peoples opinion or only use it for tallying purposes.
This now concludes my rant on this thread.

Me thinks that is the most likely outcome.

I liked how a few weeks ago rabs said he played in Melbourne all those years with Smith and Cronk, you'd think he'd be better

He can play well but his form has been on a downward spiral from this time last year, to the point where, producing something good is rare and I would describe his general play, as generally diabolical.

Ad to the fact that benjis form is hit and miss, when he has been available, and hence we are no chance of making the 8 this year.

A new halves pairing just has to happen now!

Right. And what was the excuse before Marshall arrived? Why was the club so desperate to sign Marshall? A "marquee playmaker" was already on the books who is never injured. And that isn't because he falls at the feet of opposition defenders when they laid a hand on him or passes the ball 10 meters in front of them in attack and jumps out of their way in defence.

This is my position precisely. I guess that will mean we are the same person according to some of the morons posting on here.

They both should go. Even if the halves are JDB and McCrone, they can't go any worse. Having said that, getting rid of Widdop is urgent. To say he stifles the attack is being too kind. He sabotages it.

I would never bag him, just saying he looked a better player without the armband, not all players can handle the captaincy

Did you even read my post? I said Benji should be dropped bonehead. You can't afford to carry anyone who has just made 5 serious errors in any game like he just did. In terms of defence I didn't think Benji has been doing too badly of late, so I went to the NRL Stats site. Benji misses an average of 2.7 tackles per game played. Widdop misses an average of 3.6 tackles per game played, including 7 last game against Brisbane. I wouldn't say either of them is any good. I stand by my comment that Benji has been making more opportunities for his outside backs than Widdop has . And I really don't care whether he's the captain or not, he's not playing at first grade standard, he has presided over five miserable team performances in a row, and he should be dropped as well.
