Abyss I've only seen him since coming back from the mental asylum and he's been down right ordinary. No psychology, nothing. Maybe I should hunt down his previous work?
His early, more hardcore stuff with guys like Sabu, Jeff Hardy, Rhino, and Raven are very good.
But yes, I'm convinced you're more into athleticism in professional wrestling instead of story telling, selling, offence and so on?
Did I say that? Are we talking about professional wrestling or big guys? For one, I'd find Morgan's offence more innovative and intimidating Big Show's.
In a big worker, I find athleticism impressive because so many of them are slow, plodding guys. It makes for a more intimidating big guy. That's one of the main reasons why Lesnar was so convincing as a monster - he was big, but he was also quick enough and agile enough to do things that were something more than chops, chokeslams, leg drops, and a finishing move.
A pump kick delivered at speed by a big guy = one of the most devestating looking moves in professional wrestling. Ditto a spear. Batista and Goldberg do it well because they're bigger guys and you believe that impact would really f**k somebody up.
Obviously story-telling and selling and offence are important - but being able to do all of those things doesn't mean a great deal if your offence looks sloppy and you struggle to work a match longer than five minutes if it doesn't have rest breaks inserted into it.
I am a huge Big Show fan, but that's because of his charisma and his character. It's not often I find myself eagerly anticipating a Big Show match.
I don't really anticipate Morgan or Hernandez or Kane matches, either, but they at least manage a decent pace usually.
