That’s constantly been called a lost ball this year. He wasn’t on both feet. It’s a stupid interpretation but that’s what it is this year. We also got some good calls on knock ons including at least one to Edwards and the Garner one which normally gets called back.

Anyway, they had a million sets and 50/50 6 agains before their first try, then an intercept into the Tago sin bin which was maybe the right call but pretty like ball. Things snowballed and we didn’t handle it great.

Nice to see the side has enough juice to pull out some monster plays when needed though.
Except when it wasn't, a la Kiraz in a critical moment of a game 2 weeks ago.

It was the incorrect call, even by this years standards.

So a professional accidentally does something he has never done his entire career up until that point.

Have you ever seen it before?
Munky is once again spot on. That act was absolutely intentional. He even took a step towards Campbell on that run.

EVEN if it was an accident, it is the sort of act that should have been penalised with a kick in front. It is not upto Campbell to refocus, it is up to the trainer to pick some land to run in to not affect any part of play.

Great effort by your boys to come up with plays when the chips were very down.

We are officially back

The hate for the trainer accident is glorious.

I don't remember seeing that trainer on the field before

So had a new trainer, with Ivan barking orders at him, shit happens.

Kickers get distracted by all sorts of things, As in this case the kickers re set themselves and have another shot

There should not have to be an on-field distraction though. You would be filthy if the situations were reversed.

I admire Penrith as a footy team.......but that was poor yesterday. Hopefully, some rules are put in place to avoid what happened yesterday.

I have seen Nathan distracted all the time.

Was the on field distraction there when he took the kick?

That is the key part here,

Campbell and Brimson must have been covered in spiders because none of our guys wanted to tackle them in the second half. Was like Ezra Mam in the 23 GF. Just carved us like a Sunday roast. Worrying signs I thought.

The trainer incident. No words, punt him to the moon. Intentional all day long.

Yeah, that Kenny, Marto, Cleary, Tago edge was a huge concern again.

I knew we were due a wake up call, and for whatever reason Titans usually put up a good fight against us. Even though that was a highly unsatisfying 'win', I am hoping the team treats it as a loss and learns from it whilst thankfully banking 2 points.
I'm going to agree with the right edge concerns too.

BUT

I've analysed it every time it breaks down and have come to the conclusion that at least one of the four fails to "stay connected" and inevitably ends up past the ball.

Watching it unfold yesterday, and it pains me to say, our best player, and arguably the games best player, Nathan Cleary was the culprit far too many times.

The resultant problems from one player leaving the structure is so hard to overcome and the Titans made us pay plenty of times. Other teams don't score every time we make defensive errors, but gee, they can make some players look dumb.

Nathan is also the first to admit his shortcomings and said as much in a post match interview.

It will be fixed again, just like the last time it happened during a losing streak.

Campbell was preparing to take the kick. There was a vast amount of space the trainer could have taken to avoid being in line with the kick.....he chose the wrong area .

Im not sure what you're talking about with Nathan being distracted "all the time". That incident yesterday was an absolute shocker considering the state of the game and Penrith's season. He and Penrith should cop a hit for that one. I absolutely agree that being deducted the comp points is ridiculous.....but I'd expect some sort of sanction plus some rule changes over the off season.

Do you recall someone from the crowd throwing a water bottle at the ball when Nathan Cleary was kicking from the sideline? Probably an accident from the spectator.... Haters are always going to demand penalties.

I dunno about the trainer thing. I don't think it was that big of a deal. I think Vossy having such a monumental blow up about it kind of made it bigger than it was.

He 100% f**ked up. A fine for the club and suspension for the trainer seems fair. The idea of a shot in front or even points deduction seem insane, especially when, as others have mentioned, theres precedent for that not happening in a case where the same happened to us a few years ago. Campbell had every opportunity to reset and refocus, but chose not to use it. The idea its not his responsibility to regain focus is also crazy. There's infinite capacity to be distracted by any and everything going on in a massive stadium and all the activity on the sideline. Where do you draw the line on an acceptable level of distraction?

They can do that to anyone tbf. Cracking players both of them. Discipline was the bigger issue.

That is an off-field distraction which referees cannot fully control. I'd absolutely let Cleary have a 2nd attempt if a bottle hit him on the first go.
This was an incident caused directly by someone involved in the game. Trainers should be with the players until the kick has been taken. There is no excuse for that trainer yesterday....plain old cheating.

Well no we wouldn’t, because it’s happen to us several times before and we didn’t care.

My favourite was the Roosters ball boy.

Nathan just reset his kick and kicked it.

Are you suggesting a rule change??
