So his strengths are being moved for Jake Arthur???It's not about needing to work on anything. He should play to his strengths.
He also caught one of the Titans halves chasing back after a break. He scored a great try last year from a chip and chase; I don't think pace is his issue.
He runs like a baby giraffe.Spot on mate and I what I also wrote about. He is so freakin slow it isn't funny. Totally stuffed up our flow of super quick and explosive running and passing that we displayed before he came on.
He should not be used in the NRL again until he is ready or we have no other halves option.
It isn’t “speed” pace that’s his issue. It’s “timing” pace. He isn’t in motion in attack, which isn’t our style of attack (at least not when our attack is at its best). He scored a great try last year from a chip and chase; I don't think pace is his issue.
He needs to get used to playing against men - but I don't believe he's ready for First Grade yet.
It was an accident but he has a responsibility to make sure he doesn’t hit the player with his knees in that situation. Very surprised it wasn’t charged by MRC tbhI dont know why people are so upset about it. I thought it was an accident
The main thing is being able to replace an injured edge defender (the widest three on either side) during a game. That's all that is required to stop your defence falling apart. Losing a key attacker isn't such an issue because you can just get other stars more involved. Obviously having no injuries is best of all, but you need to minimise disruption to your defence because it's your defence that the opposition can target. If you lose an attacker they can't really exploit that.We seemed to manage last year. Will smith wasnt always in the 17. How did we manage then or was it just good luck?
Yep, lack of malicious intent is no reason to avoid punishment. I can cop him avoiding suspension but it should've been an eight point try and a sin bin.Accidents happen in NRL, however players often find themselves getting penalised and suspended after accidents. Especially when they carelessly put a player in hospital.
He's a good finisher. One bombed put down under pressure doesn't change that. Even at centre he is more of a finisher than a creator. As for his hit ups/kick returns he also uses his footwork. The obvious one from the weekend is finishing.
His hit ups also aren’t ideal winger kick return style hit ups. Trying to use size against 3-4 kick chasers isn’t going to work most of the time.
Is he a bad winger? No
Is he ideally suited to play wing? No
Running and tackling. Winning one-on-one contests. He can do that just fine at centre where there is more room to move.So his strengths are being moved for Jake Arthur???
Isn’t it always an accident though? Why does that matter?I dont know why people are so upset about it. I thought it was an accident
Our defence was shit all game, that first try we let in was as soft as Latrells guts. It didn’t magically get worse after we got that 26-12 lead. We took them lightly and once we got those two early tries we just thought it was going to be easy. Why should you be the only one who can read minds? Tell us what else the coach is thinking ffs
Two other facts you're conveniently forgetting:
1. The lead had blown out to 14 points when he came on
2. Our defence also went to shit at that time
Put these facts together and we can see a more likely explanation for why our attack dropped off along with our defence. Hint: it's not attributable to a scapegoat.
We magically had all the ball all of a sudden. I wonder what caused that. Do you?
OK So you reckon that Bryce Cartwright would have been better in centres yesterday than Dylan ?Answer what? I’ve said we were better off having Bryce there. Is there something the matter with you?
You are posting smoke screens. He was picked yesterday to cover for a injury in the backs and it ended up to be fortuitous.
I'm not sure it's a good sign to be in agreement with the majority of sports fans. These are the blinkered, emotional merkins who are notorious for thinking they know better than the people who get paid to do the job.OK I shouldn't of bothered responding to your post @hindy111
It looks like many here have already nailed it and could see the negative influence AJ had on the whole team, except for the few usual clueless suspects that is of course.
As you were everyone.
The rate at which we conceded points ramped up massively between the 34th and the 44th minute. The triggers were getting a lead of 13+ and then falling behind for the first time. The reason we didn't score is because the Titans started having a go when they saw we'd clocked off. They didn't quit just because we scored a couple of goals. Our defence was shit all game, that first try we let in was as soft as Latrells guts. That's right. Jake Arthur's fault hey? The boys must've assumed he was going to carry the team ffsWe took them lightly and once we got those two early tries we just thought it was going to be easy.
You seem to be tad fixated about Arthur. Who would have been a better 17th man ?
BTW Marata was on the sideline yesterday with crutches, so unsure if he will be back next week.
Lol, so the teams attack was fine after Jakey came on?? 60% of the ball and we didn’t look like scoring. It’s not what Jake did on the field it’s what happened to the rest of the spine when the shift happened. It didn’t work, JA is not a utility and he’s barely ready for first grade. He should be first choice back up half and that’s it. If Moses and Brown are fit he should be learning his trade in reserve grade. The rate at which we conceded points ramped up massively between the 34th and the 44th minute.
