We have a good 9 or 10 players but a pretty weak squad so when we are missing some, we struggle.
I think I mentioned this last year and was told it was all the coach and that our squad was fine.

We have some very decent 18/20 year olds, but mostly not ready. Being complacent in recruiting is a death sentence for clubs, Roosters have missed the mark too, Hodgson seems a panic buy and it’s hurting us to continue with him.

Missing out on Tapau wasn’t ideal , possibly due to glacial moves in signing , who knows. Even the Tigers have a young winger that we could play on the other wing and improve the team, and not have to continue with someone who has yet to recover fully and maybe never will.

I had a sinking feeling when he was interviewed at the end of the Penrith game, he said that we’d been playing well all season without reward, but he was pleased to get the win. It seemed like he was satisfied that continuing to play the same style, against slightly weaker opposition, would see us winning a lot, and end up comfortably playing finals.

I reckon he now sees that we’re gone. That’s because he and his game plan haven’t adapted. But it’s easier to blame Atkins than to accept your own contribution to the ongoing failure.

We did choose to gamble on likely more inferior players than those they were replacing though, no one forced these mostly inferior players on the club.
