No, you pondered/asked why he was doing the nose rub, claiming he was not a Maori. If there is a difference then you were wrong to tell me I'm "Wrong again there friend". I said he's not Maori, he said he's not Maori, and now you're saying you can have Maori heritage and not be Maori. So if he has Maori heritage it's irrelevant. He's not Maori, just like he said. I said it too, and now you've admitted you were to wrong to try to correct me. You were also wrong to call me friend. I'm not your friend or anyone else's.
Our backline should stay the same for rest of year barring injuries.Best thing our coach staff has done in a while if ask me is realising Simmonson is a better centre then wing. The guy gives 100%, defends pretty well and is fast. Always backs up and does a lot of work. Goes looking for it.
Last week he was our best back. This week again. Not including halves. He is showing something
That's right, because he's not, as stated by the player in question. He didn't do all the nose stuff because of his 'Maori heritage', he did it because "Being brought up over there, I learnt all the Maori stuff and they do it [the haka] when they go to war and when they show respect to someone, funerals and all that."No, you pondered/asked why he was doing the nose rub, claiming he was not a Maori.
I used to do the hongi with my Maori mates in Western Sydney.
I am of Anglo/Irish heritage.
Fans have been screaming for this backline all season. Took a while but we got there I guess. Our backline should stay the same for rest of year barring injuries.
Russell on the wing and Simmonson in centres.
Russell will be better with another 20 games just needs a decent string of games.
It has me baffled why he was left out for dunster last 2 weeks.
May have been the difference between a winning and losing as we butchered 2 possible tries down that side last week with dunster not being quick enough to keep up and the other one knocking it on.
If you say you Identify as a Maori, then you're a Maori. Nothing else matters now days.So you must be Maori?
So you've answered your own question that you pondered... you originally suggested it might have been a nod to Indigenous Round, but the quote you've found confirmed his knowledge of Maori heritage. That's right, because he's not, as stated by the player in question. Dylan Brown is of Samoan heritage on his dad's side, while his mum is white.
Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. So you've answered your own question that you pondered... you originally suggested it might have been a nod to Indigenous Round, but the quote you've found confirmed his knowledge of Maori heritage.
Yes it does. Are you suggesting people of Maori heritage are not Maori? Do you think Dylan Brown is claiming that his alleged Maori heritage (according to Wikipedia, not him) isn't enough for him to be Maori?Heritage goes back further than one generation too...
You are trusting Wikipedia more than the player himself! I know players are full of shit but Wikipedia ffs!!!I still trust Wiki's summary of Brown's complex heritage more than your black and white single generation summation.
Yep, cheers for illustrating why Wikipedia is an unreliable source. Let's just log in and change reality. Nice one Kim Jong Bart. Surely Dylan Brown is allowed to clarify whether he is Maori or not? Or do you think it's just cope to excuse his continual non-selection for the Maori All-Stars?I'm pretty sure the player was just dumbing it down for the rugba leag public in his interview response about which country's team he'd play for (Samoa v NZ). You know, how you claim to have to dumb things down for us merkins here?
If you believe the wiki summary of his heritage (note: not just single generation, or national team eligibility) is wrong, you should log in and correct it then, and see how you go...
Are you sure?I used to do the hongi with my Maori mates in Western Sydney.
I am of Anglo/Irish heritage.
No I get it. Like most people I also have ancestors from places other than Australia. It’s got nothing to do with Dylan Brown’s heritage. He said he’s not Māori. It doesn’t really matter what Wikipedia says. There isn’t even a source for the claim that he is Māori. Meanwhile the player literally denied it in an interview. So once again you’ve stuck your nose in to correct others and been shown you were wrong. Time for you to stop digging. As previously stated, one might not be a Maori, but still have Maori heritage.
For example, I have ancestry (heritage) from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Not parental birth place mind you, and it doesn't make me English, Irish etc.
Pretty simple concept, but carry on denying, friend...
I was there when people were laughing at you!
I’ve watched both coverages and it’s hilarious the gymnastics they had to do to talk him up.
Here’s the moments I can remember of him:
The ball strip
Linking with Choady for their 2nd
Being tough guy on Russell when he got tackled into touch
Pushing Arrow out of dummy half to pass to Choady for a nothing burger play in our 20
Running into dummy half in 79th minute so he could do nothing chip
The short dropouts that Slater said he rarely gets wrong
Running into Junior and collapsing in exhaustion on Simonssons 2nd try
You two just need to f**k and get it out of your systems. No, you pondered/asked why he was doing the nose rub, claiming he was not a Maori.
I gave you an answer, with linked evidence that he has Maori heritage. You may not like the answer, but I did answer your question and shoot down your assumption as irrelevant.
The friend was merely a reference to the gif posted earlier in the thread from Inbetweeners, the oo football friend episode... but that nuance might also have been missed.
If you get that someone (you) can have heritage from somewhere or culture, which doesn't make yourself from there or that culture... then why are you still banging on that Brown not being a Maori couldn't possibly then have some Maori heritage - as has been accepted by Wiki editors (probably more knowledgable about the particular subject than you or I)?No I get it. Like most people I also have ancestors from places other than Australia. It’s got nothing to do with Dylan Brown’s heritage. He said he’s not Māori.
