The mismatch of how much love Yeo gets, while at the same time Cleary’s role in building our roster is dismissed, remains one of the great ironies of the Panthers thread.

Ivan’s roster building has been awesome but I bet he’d trade whatever praise he gets just for back to back 80 minute performances this year cause he hasn’t got that out the team all season long.

This year is so much different to the past 5 years. Just like when you have a knee reconstruction surgery. You don’t walk out of hospital and your new knee is perfect. You have to rehab to get it right.

This years team is very different than last year and the 4 years before. You don’t just plug it in at the start of the season and it’s good as gold.

Last weekend looked very promising though.

I'll get you that as soon as you show me the point at which Bellamy won 4 straight premierships. Or even 4 total.

The last question isn't really answerable, but i will say that I think Ivan's stability first, systematic approach to coaching is the primary reason we've been so consistent over this period, particularly in big games. I dont think Bellamy wins 4 premierships this decade if we want to talk about role swaps.

They can both be great coaches, it's not one or the other. Both have different strengths.

Of course they're near the top. They have a star studded roster, including an all rep quality spine that's played together for the past 5 years (paps injuries aside).

Im not saying hes a hack. Im saying the narrative that him keeping the club competetive over two decades isn't that big an achievement, given hes had star studded rosters that half the time were acquired illegally. He's turned having consistently great rosters into a few premierships and consaitent finals appearances. Ivan turned his great roster into 4 premierships.

As others have said Bellamy regardless of squad gets results remember Hughes was a fullback most the stars where unknown untill they hit Melbourne..Cleary has his test this year I have faith in him .But if it’s a down year we need to bring the kids in give them a year where it does not matter to develop.Guys like iso sorro move on

At the end of 2019 every one of us would of given our left arm for Penrith to have a consistent side like the storm have been for so long, its only since we have had a ridiculous 5 year run we can sit here and scoff at bellamys record like it isnt super impressive.

If Ivan can get this side humming again by next season(or sooner) ill be very impressed, i think that would be another huge check, if he can take what we have left and turn it into a premiership threat by nest season, doesnt need to win mind you just be a top 2 or 3 side,, that will almost be as good as actually winning another one this season to me as it will give me a lot of confidence for our ability to maintain a consistent top 6 side beyond the likes of Nathan and Yeo etc.
