I am happy for BA to stay for his final year.
I'd want Bennet as head of football and an attack coach if possible

I'd be happy with Bennet as coach but wouldn't mind Barrett either.

The squad needs tweaking but it isn't that terrible that I see no hope. I think we are a very good chance of top 8 next season.

Had a really long flight and have just arrived in Townsville for the game tonight... looking forward to it although i reckon we will get flogged by the refs and probably lose by 40.

Anyone else going up here for the game?

You forgot to mention the bit about a potential ambush by the cowboys.

The score was terrible and we were never in the game, however a couple of calls didn’t go our way but even if they did we still don’t win (but the score wouId have been closer) Additionally we have a poor record in Townsville.

Also let’s not forget our squad is missing 7 forwards Alvaro, Manu, Brown, T. rex, Scott, Edwards and Matagi, yeah not all would make the top 17, but gee that’s a lot of quality, cap space and experience not available.

Yeah Cowboys have Morgan out but gee if they had 4-5 top 17 forwards out, I am sure they may struggle a bit too!!

Ok.... 38 pms asking me to come back.
So I am back.
What a shit night of foooty.
BA needs to be sacked
End of story
No the f**king refs need to be sacked. As Ch 9 said the game 'went to script'. Is it a conspiracy or do refs get overawed by a great retiring? Same with Cam Smith's 356? game, the semi where we played them last year, refs were one eyed in that game as well ensuring it 'went to script'. So is it a conspiracy with all the emphasis on the one player do they unconsciously favour one team over another?

I agree Hindy, our attack is diabolical and needs fixing. In general our defence is ok but much more work needs to go into our edge defence. Look at how the cows made the ball sing tonight. Partly our fault we tackled a player and refused to lock the ball up but that ab lib football is the way to go imo. Just on our attack, what does the coach see in Salmon? In not one game has he stood out!

Sometimes little moments in games can have huge consequences. If Vave doesn’t dive at the guys leg in the first set, we get the ball from the 5th and the game is totally different. Instead, they get a penalty, roll upfield, score a try and we are up against it already. It was a massive moment.

I am not saying the result would have changed, but the score line would have.

It is a very familiar pattern this year.

Yes but Storm cannonballed last week all match. So the Vave penalty is not consistent. The ball carrier was still moving and was borderline held.

and if the ball carrier managed to get an off load, everyone would have had a go for Vave for being a lazy dill for not helping out in the tackle

Some fun (depressing) facts from the match

Moses made 26 tackles
The only bloke to beat him from the cowboys was Granville with 39

we made 396 tackles
cowboys 236

160 more tackles or almost 27 sets extra

maybe we should all pitch in and get him a rug, he could become a legendary coach if he had hair

So when one thing does not go our way we fold? Good teams conceed little points while things aren't going their way and are patient untill the tide turns.
Our issue is if isnt going our way it could be game over in a 20 min span.

The Cowboys have played like a bunch of f**king Peni Terepos with added grease on their hands pretty much all season.
They come up against us and suddenly complete at almost 100%.

Their massive forwards were allowed a great roll on, with the refs not allowing any holding down whatsoever in the tackle. We were gassed by the 5 minute mark.

We didn’t play well, but we weren’t allowed to. Although it was nobody’s fault that Gennings seems to be a hopeless defender who rushes infield for no reason.

The effort was there!!. The Cowboys played almost the perfect game, and, in my opinion, would have put a similar scoreline on any of the other Clubs. They were unstoppable, and hardly made a mistake. The effort in front of a sell-out crowd, and on such a special occasion was not un-expected. It was a bit like what fans expected from the Eels at the opening of Parramatta Stadium. Sure, the full time scoreline was disappointing..but the magic of seeing JT weave his magic should live in the minds of ‘true’ League fans for ever. In years to come we can say “Yeah, I saw Johnathon Thurston play his last game in Townsville”…just like we can say, “Sure I saw Tulloch, Todman, Kingston Town, Makybe Diva, Black Caviar and Winx race”…Appreciate what we have witnessed. It could have been 12 all in the second half – a good fightback considering the scoreboard pizzling they got in the first stanza.
Daniel Alvaro, Kaysa Pritchard, Nathan Brown, Manu Mau, Matagi, Kenny Edwards, Beau Scott, Tony Williams were missing…that’s a chunk of experience…

It’s a dangerous tackle, all Vave had to do is go up top with the other players.

Of course it’s dangerous, that’s why there’s a rule BUT the Storm do it all the time and never get penalised. Why?

You can’t bring in a rule and then ignore it when it suits you.

I agree Pete but only Brown and Alvaro make last nights team I reckon and who would BA have left out? Gower? Vave? Wouldnt have made much difference.
I was there when Ken Thornett retired. Twice. Lol.
