I saw him in the trials ffs. And I said he is set for a huge season.

I reckon Shaun Lane best moment this year was against Melbourne back in round 3.

I remember him charging down Papenhuyzen FG attempt that looked like it was going over with a min to go.

If he didnt rush up and pressure so he could charge it down we probably lose that game.

It is the 1% that Lane has improved with this year especially defensively.

Gutho a couple weeks ago (iirc) got penalized for batting the ball out/forward trying to defuse a bomb.

broncos battered the ball forward several times in the second half, stopping our attacking raids. Why weren’t they penalized? Tbh I didn’t even know Gutho could get penalized for what he did.

Can’t deliberately propel the ball forward to your own advantage I believe is the rule but perhaps the rule doesn’t actually say to anything about advantage. Bit tough to say knocking the ball on is to your advantage. If he had caught it again maybe, but it was never the intention of the rule. Another “Only Eels get penalised” rule

In the 2nd half we where very poor and sloppy for the first 20 mins.

Yes we were little more sloppy but we were not very poor.

there were 4 occasions when the last line broncos edge defender jumped and purposely knocked down the pass - not going for an intercept but just knocking on Purposely to shut down the play and stop us scoring. We could have had 4 more tries in minutes 40-60.
Freddy was talking about it after the game and how in union it’s now a penalty to purposely knock on to break down play and repeat offenders are binned. I don’t think it’s a bad idea tbh…

I always thought the rule was to stop you batting it over your opponents head and regathering and taking advantage that way.

not sure how that rule applies to what Gutho did. He tried defusing a kick.

anyway I thought at the time, how’s that a penalty.
