I think he may have played himself out of spot in the 17. He was terrible
..
I don’t know about that. I think he just thought he needed to do everything. If he plays like last week with the prince of Egypt telling where he needs him he makes the 17

Final scoreline was probably more related to one teams group of players, who were second string players, have hardly played a game for 2 months and were clearly gassed in the second half..

We achieved what we needed to achieve. Move on.

Penrith was always going to win that game. But the f**king ref was absolutely shithouse. 6 to go calls for no apparent reason. You don’t know why. When Penrith held us down for that little extra bit nothing til the end of the game. Refs are so shit these days. The only decent one is retiring at the end of the season.

I didn't watch a lot. From what I saw.

Cartwright played silly.

Arthur's made some great tackles.
Stones defense is great. If only he ran better.
Makatoa is bog average. Big motor but I don't see the love. Huge plodder with a big heart.
Perhaps has a nice step

This has to be the backline into the finals . Speed to burn everywhere except Gutho, who provides the energy and support play

1 Gutho
2 Dunster
3 Penisini
4 Blake
5. Fergo
6 DBrown
7 Moses

Very impressed by Rodwell! Huge frame and good technique. Could be the future in the second row for us.

Loved Stone's hits. Could become our enforcer if he keeps that up.

I think Cartright scared a lot of fans with that performance. We can't risk those cheap turnovers in the finals.

I wouldn’t be re-signing Ferguson after seeing these youngsters. Plenty of quality there that you can use Fergo’s money to upgrade their contracts.
Fergo showed hes not the future tonight. He missed Ado Carr last week and let Too get away from him tonight. He was back to that rushing in sh*t again. I thought he was awful last night. Id still bring in Oppy and move Waqa to the wing.

In under 20s Rodwell was one of our best. He was a little lose in defense but his running game was superior to Hipgrave and Stone.

Unusre if Cartwright was just practising a few ball skills in a game he could

To late now. I agree it was an option had Penisini been part of the side earlier. Not now.
Plus some of those tries Fergo scored against Storm I dont think to many wingers score. Old twinkle toes is still a good finisher.

His half time talk must've been inspirational.
Pretty much every reserve grade game this year our Eels started great but capitulated in the second half. Losing 2 forwards didnt help. I was disappointed Zak El Em (spelling no idea) didnt get a run. He had been as impressive at Maka Paka in the twos.

Thoughts on Jrthur?
A few ok tackles but thats was no more than expected. That said he still got caught out at times.
I thought his A was extremely average. He looks so slow. Hopefully he improves but at this stage I reckon we definitely need a better back up half next year.
I have to eat some humble pie after Smiths efforts last night. Played strong, done fine. Well done Smithy.

I liked russel. Get him on the wing when sivo is out next year.

Then, he should eventually goto 1 with gutho at 6

Let's see if we can keep all 3 of Dylbags, mahoney and guth.

Ja can always be the backup

To me he seems to take too long to do things. Everything looks slow motion. From running to kicking. Everything looks robotic/measured and nothing seems natural.
His passes look telegraphed.

But he is 18 and barely played NSW cup. I feel like NRL should be reserved for kids under 20 making debuts if they are quite special.Penisini,D.Brown are examples. JA is not one of those. I prefer juniors not to get into NRL untill they are 20/21 unless they are just to good to hold out. So next two seasons I'd expect him in NSW cup. He would be playing at age 19 and 20.
2024 he will be 21 and be closer to Nrl level. But he would still need 2yrs in the NRL if he gets to this point.
Best to judge him in 2026
