Tell ya what Maka might just be a deadset first grader
He’s a “run that way !” prop. A few times he found himself in a shift and he had no idea what to do. 😂 Agree that he’s a keeper. Hope he doesn’t get picked up by another $club$ like Davey.

Very impressed by Rodwell! Huge frame and good technique. Could be the future in the second row for us.

Loved Stone's hits. Could become our enforcer if he keeps that up.

I think Cartright scared a lot of fans with that performance. We can't risk those cheap turnovers in the finals.
Gotta say that I made a silent apology to Ray Stone last night.

In under 20s Rodwell was one of our best. He was a little lose in defense but his running game was superior to Hipgrave and Stone.

Unusre if Cartwright was just practising a few ball skills in a game he could
😂😂 Rodwell was signed in Round 2 this year from the Tigers. Before that he was a Souths U20’s player.

Here he is his in pre-season training being tackled by Alex Twal.

FFS, he still looked good in our 20's team though.

Thoughts on Jrthur?
A few ok tackles but thats was no more than expected. That said he still got caught out at times.
I thought his A was extremely average. He looks so slow. Hopefully he improves but at this stage I reckon we definitely need a better back up half next year.
I have to eat some humble pie after Smiths efforts last night. Played strong, done fine. Well done Smithy.
You’ve answered your question. Will Smith is probably our best back up half/hooker. If not we could always take Lachlan Lewis.

23 possessions .... 21 times he was tackled .... 2 passes

LOL - as an opposition player you have a fair idea what's gonna happen .... though interestingly, I reckon there are tackles when you can see he is thinking offload, but he just won't try and risky one - maybe he has good discipline

To me he seems to take too long to do things. Everything looks slow motion. From running to kicking. Everything looks robotic/measured and nothing seems natural.
His passes look telegraphed.

But he is 18 and barely played NSW cup. I feel like NRL should be reserved for kids under 20 making debuts if they are quite special.Penisini,D.Brown are examples. JA is not one of those. I prefer juniors not to get into NRL untill they are 20/21 unless they are just to good to hold out. So next two seasons I'd expect him in NSW cup. He would be playing at age 19 and 20.
2024 he will be 21 and be closer to Nrl level. But he would still need 2yrs in the NRL if he gets to this point.
Best to judge him in 2026
If he wasn’t the coach’s son they probably wouldn’t ever bother to persevere with him. Look I get he’s young but I always compare a young half to someone like Tim Smith or Blake Green at a similar age. They had something and you could see it. Jake Arthur just seems to have plenty of work ethic and bugger all natural talent. Probably will end up like his dad. A lower grade player always involved in the game and there is nothing wrong with that.

The Fox comentators were in raptures over JFH ..... maybe I have blue and gold glasses, but I reckon Stone smashed the f**ker

JFH - 14 runs for 84 metres - 33 post contact metres ..... thats pretty piss poor for someone I would say is one of the best middle forwards in the NRL

Stone seemed to turn up and belt him regularly ... I reckon Stone was given that job

I didn't watch a lot. From what I saw.

Cartwright played silly.

Arthur's made some great tackles.
Stones defense is great. If only he ran better.
Makatoa is bog average. Big motor but I don't see the love. Huge plodder with a big heart.
Perhaps has a nice step
I don’t get this Hindy, you say you didn’t watch a lot of the game yet you’re adamant Maka is bog average and a plodder. Perhaps if you rewatch the whole game today your opinion may have some more credibility.

I think he is just the wrong build for a half .... maybe if his body matures a bit he might seem less gangly and more in control??? ..... but I think if he gets bigger (more solid) then he is more likely to head down a matterson type path (skilful but more an edge forward)

It's a shame about Stone. I do like him but no idea where to put him.

In the off-season, if he can really work hard on his dummy half work, that's the best place for him.

Defensively, he'll do all the hard stuff.

But he needs another skill and dummy half is the only place he will fit for mine. And of course he can always come on as a 13 to give someone a breather

Was sickening and poor commentary

JFH played 51min

They gave Kaufusi a wrap for about 2 seconds
48min straight, 17 runs 156m, 55 PCM

Even his own team mate was better with hardly any wraps, if any
Leota
44min 14runs, 169m, 74 PCM

Fergo showed hes not the future tonight. He missed Ado Carr last week and let Too get away from him tonight. He was back to that rushing in sh*t again. I thought he was awful last night. Id still bring in Oppy and move Waqa to the wing.
He should split himself in half each time he has two blokes running his way and take one each.
