Our defense was actually quite immense tonight if you watch how much ball they had in our attacking zone.

I don’t have the time to watch all games tbh. I do watch a couple. But I disagree .We have massive issues on Superman Simonsons wing. That side has been exposed every game so far. We do defend well In patches and then we have moments like when Brandon Smith ran through some soft defence to set up Pap. All 3 games so far have been a let down defensively.

The red zone defence was really good, but we’re still conceding too much in the middle of the field and letting teams get into our end too easily. I’m surprised at how many tackles just aren’t sticking and how much second phase play we’re letting happen. Mahoney especially just seems to be falling off tackles after making decent first contact. Bit of a worry I reckon.

Tough win!! What was great is we aren’t anywhere need 100%….

while it’s a long season and we won’t know until the year is over I suspect we have trained to build into the season as opposed to the previous season where we start fast but fade a little.

Obviously we are fit, but it looks like we have a lot left in the “tank”, for example our defence is no where near as aggressive/line speed isn’t great. We weren’t that aggressive against the Sharks either.

RCG, Gutho, Paulo did good, but aren’t as dominant as previous years in the first few rounds.

The top teams usually play poorly early in the season but still hope to win because their opponents are also playing poorly. Basically there are no good attacking teams early in the year, just good and bad defences.
