The teams that pass the best have players who are the best at it. They also have dangerous runners who can make defenders overreact, plus hard workers in their pack who can make those essential decoy and support runs. As always, it's about personnel. The types of players we're letting go and the ones we are targeting tell me we are looking to get better at exploiting defensive weaknesses rather than just playing percentages like we are now. But what we're currently doing is what's best for our current squad. If we want to do things differently we need to change some personnel.

Letting go? Hahahaha...is that what you call when teams out bid you and take your players? Tell me again which specific players didn't we want that are leaving and who are these better players that we are bringing to the club?

As for our current players not capable passing running or defending like the better players in the comp or playing a better brand of footy, I agree with you there, but only because of our inept coaching. Individually most of our players have tremendous skill and ability. The coaching has stymied them in my opinion. The two assistants that have been here as long as BA have to go so we can see a real change. But I don't expect that to happen now with only one more year left at most for the stubborn head coach. Unless of course he wins a title or at the very least gets us to the disco.

But you watch how quick the new coach, especially if he is good and experienced gets rid of them and also watch if we still have a top 4 roster how well the players start to interact and play connected as a team.

The Storm lost so they don't deserve any credit. How can they have that much ball against our shit defence and only score four tries ffs

That's why I don't rate the Storm all that highly, especially with the injured players they had out.

But the Storm aren't the GOAT cheating team of a couple of seasons ago, only good to great cheaters now.

Hindy was the best player I've seen play for the eels. Him and Cayless were the best leaders at the time.

It's a shame but somehow we couldn't find a halfback at the time. If they had Moses, they may have won 2 premierships.

Shame Tim Smith never kicked on, his rookie season was really good.

Agree. Just shows how headspace is just as important as ability.

The Footy Gods don't hand out exceptional players all that often. Unfortunately for us, they were drunk when they made Tim Smith, Bevan French and Jarryd Hayne.

@hindy111 not discounting he had a good game and really as a fullback it’s his job to be everywhere but for me I felt both Munster & Smith had clearly better games.

Lane should of got 1 point for his charge down alone. 79 mins of high intensity footy and he still had the awareness and energy to do that.
Sometimes one moment is worth more then an overall 80min performance. That was the biggest moment in the game for me.

Quite remarkable when you consider Lane can get very lazy he isnt the first person you think off to put that effort in.

You could say his weak effort on Smith that lead to papenhuyzen try was made up for from the chargedown 3 mins later.

@hindy111 you just love ya some big Laney don’t ya mate 😂 I agree it was a special effort! Oppa needs more clout for being there to jump on the loose ball as well.

Well every week last year Lane copped it on here. It annoyed me. Yet this year he has so far been our best forward and most consistent but the only time others mention his name is when he drops a ball. Half the time they are balls that are pressure passes with him running at speed making them very difficult.
