We all knew Sanders was going to Canberra and was a kid.
We all knew Halves get injured or Moses was a good chance for origin.

So the question is why we didn't try and sign a back up half back? For those who want to day we had JA. The question then must be asked why did we let him go and not replace him? One might say it's nepotism at it's finest. A better opportunity and more money for the kid.

Regardless we had 9 months to find a back up halfback. Who has a kid who is leaving as the main back up? Well he isn't even top 30 so we've gone into the season without a back up halfback.......

Look at Penrith -

Sean O Sullivan
Cogger
Schneider

We literally have no back up halfback.
We have Talagi, Hands and Asi in the top 30.

He wasn't acting like it was a cramp. He was pointing at his leg to the trainer and limping like it was an injury. The trainer didn't attempt to stretch his leg like it was cramping.
He obviously just needed to harden up. Blokes play injured all the time.

Cmon Gazza, the reason that Api wasn’t signed was purely financial, the R&R committee have strict payments for positions with little footy knowledge, and MON won’t argue too hard agst them. Players have been suggested and approached but we werent willing to match or didn’t believe their salary demands.

I understand the final decision is by the Chairman, CEO and HOF, and the coach is outside that commitment.
No doubt cost has become a massive hurdle in any Eels negotiations but Its about prioritising. A proven performer V a broken down unknown is a ridiculous compromise. I wonder how much cost difference there was at the end of the day between the two when you add associated costs in deciding on Hodgson. Reminiscent of the Foran and Watmough deals. MON has his issues no doubt but to lay all blame at his feet for our current recruitment dilemma is a bit of a stretch in my opinion.
If BA never gets his way and has no say then why does he keep renewing his contracts.
I appreciate your reply DB. Very respectful.

BA is a professional footy coach at a club he loves. The issue of recruitment is outside his control and when he had more say was I believe under Bernie Gurr where we had some signing success. The committee approach is a result of the accounting bodies in the club, terrified of the audit problems we suffered from 6/7 years ago.

Not saying he has no blame for selections and tactics, but believe he gets really ticked off when players are missed, but we need a dynamic person in that role. Shane Richardson comes into a club and gets busy, difficult to see anyone like him given the tight rein we see from our committee heavy accounting type structure.

Lane, Harper and Sivo presented no threat and the team knew it. That’s why the concentration was middle and right edge.
And yet there was an awful lot of cut out balls to a flat footed Sivo that went nowhere. I joked about it earlier, but I think it may sadly be the case that BA thinks Sivo can do what Semi could do. It’s the only explanation for any kind of play that ends with Sivo getting the ball when he isn’t five metres from the try line.

Paulo (off the f**ken scrum to the f**ken touchie FFS!) - Moses hopefully means we don’t do that shit.
We literally did that last week with Moses in the side though, it wasn’t off a scrum but it was the same rainbow pass to no one because Harper and Sivo are absolute slugs that would get out paced by a prime Luke Covell. At least that merkin could kick goals though.

Who was the last recruitment committee with accountants and banking backgrounds to build an NRL premiership roster?

These merkins are well out of their depth and expertise, and it shows.

Api is not the type of player BA likes. he doesnt need his hookers to be smart
He likes his dummy halves like he likes his halves. Family!! It must tear him up inside that Jakey had to leave because of all us Mean Girl fans.

Lussick was our best player yesterday. I thought our defence was ok, but it wasnt hard to defend 4 crash plays, especially when the ball is either thrown above or behind the receiver.

I think Ive said it before but I really think the Eels should sign Jake Simpkin. I think theres a decent first grader, well certainly better then anything you currently have at 9.
We can’t have anyone getting in the way of little Matty, Gutho’s bro in law can have a crack until little Matty get parachuted into the top side like his brother.

I’ll be the first to get on my hands and knees and polish BA’s knob if Matt Arthur turns out to be the second coming of Jesus Christ and is what leads us to a premiership. Based off of his brother though I’m fairly confident I’m safe.

Olam how much did the Tigers pay to get him. If it's anything below 400k i reckon that's a great deal for the Tigers.

It's a shame we had all these excellent centres and wingers at our disposal atm we couldn't fitted him in our squad.

He has already stiffened up there defence.
There were alot of ppl on here last year saying no way to Olam...I laugh about it because we got Harper instead. All sorts excuses like he's too old, bad defender etc..olam's a beast..would've been a great pickup

I am not defending Sivo here, cos we yell at him too, but some of the passes he got yesterday assumed he was 8 foot tall. If he didn't have to jump arms stretched to the sky to catch the ball and instead it lands on his chest - life would have been better for all.
He was soft as melted butter...no ticker.
I compare him to Rawalawa and Olam. They want to run through concrete walls...he turns his back alot...
He should've trampled Staines...he got owned by Staines...

He's a top 17 player on top 17 money. We signed Harper when we already had Simonsson and Penisini on the books.

@Poupou Escobar We need a game manager back up. Anyhows we live and learn.
That requires experience and confidence. Not a skillset you get from backups. You bring the backup in and he might do more of the kicking if that's his skillset, otherwise more senior members of the spine step up. At Penrith that's Luai. At Parra it's Dylan Brown.
