For heavens sake, it’s all gone a bit “first world problems” here.

You have a great side and it’s a f**king awesome feeling to think that you’re our bitches.

But you’re not the ones phoning the Chinese in the morning inviting them to set up a nuclear sub base at your Centre Of Excellence.

How is that a point of contention? It’s like claiming it’s contentious to say the team would play better with more speed, or more experience, or harder workers in defence. Of course the team would play better with better coaching. Every team would.

Really? Gary at least partially put some of the responsibility on the coaching staff but you seem to think they’re doing a reasonable job and that changing it wouldn’t necessarily make the team play better.

It does indeed go without saying when it shouldn't. There's way too mich of a disproportionate focus on the coach imo. People like yourself are looking to blame someone when the problem is a shared one.

I disagree that the blame is disproportionate when the coach has had 7+ years. Eventually the coach has to make a breakthrough or you give someone else a chance to make it happen. When you see performances like that it’s a worrying sign for a team with title aspirations.

Of course. They are much better teams than we are. Statistically two of the best in the history of the code.

No one is asking the team to become one of the statistically best sides of all time. We just want to see our team play to its potential and not drop gimme games like that which could potentially screw us over at the back end of the season.

We finished where we deserved to finish. We had the sixth best points differential and finished sixth. The losses weren’t some massive failure any more than the wins were some amazing success. They were all together a reflection of who we were. An above average team in a comp with some great teams. Manly got to week three yet were absolutely destroyed twice in the finals. Was that Hasler’s fault?

Our squad was better than the injury ravaged Roosters and Manly. You say the fans overrate our team but I say you are guilty of underrating them. A one off victory is a fluke but to consistently beat Melbourne and almost knock off the eventual premiers shows that we didn’t play as well as we could have through the regular season. I think you arrive at the conclusion and cherry pick evidence to support it rather than following the evidence where it leads.

No, it shows we lift for those games or they go in complacent against us. Probably both. There’s no sure things in the NRL, and I think that’s good.

Of course you do because you are looking for a scapegoat. We've been through the coaching alternatives shit a million times and I've always been open to getting rid of BA. We normally dont do it this early in the season though. Even @hineyrulz doesn't shoot his load until at least August.

Thats exactly what you were doing when you made a comparison to Melbourne and Penrith. We lose games like the Tigers one because we aren't as good as those two teams. Its why we haven't been close to them in previous regular seasons. Its also why they beat us in finals matches.

That said, only a fool would suggest the effort against the Tigers was good by our usual standards.

But Melbourne and Penrith are the only teams to maintain consistent standards and you've already accepted that we aren't as good as them. When you make a statement like that how do you think it will manifest itself? Just in loses to the best teams in the finals? Of course not. We generally wont be as good across all of the games against other teams in the regular season as well.

If you accept that we aren't as good as them then why expect us to do what they can do? Seems irrational.

I know you think its a cop out but thats the reality we face at the moment.

Anway, like you, I'd love to see us improve and win a premiership. It would be great wouldn't it?

And we all know the stupid bald merkin is safe as houses. The board aren’t serious at winning comps all they care about about is memberships and the club doing well enough to make a profit. If the board were serious at winning a comp Bea wouldn’t have got a ridiculous 2 year extension and at the very least his two simpleton assistant coaches would be still stinking up Centrelink still looking for a handout.

The head coach has the right to pick who his assistants are.

If we got someone else in 2018 then that merkin would have brought his own merkins.

I’m also not convinced that we’d automatically be a better side if we did switch coaches in 2018.

We’ve been pretty good since then and there is no guarantee that a new coach = immediate premiership.

Just take a look at the procession of coaches at Parra who have failed since 1986.
