My Carty highlight of the night wasn't him scoring ..... it was seeing him in the background when Opacic scored after Carty pretty much set it up with the first offload to gutho .... Carty looked more excited that he setup that try and Mitch was over to him celebrating immediately .... shows what they have been working towards - and the confidence it will build when it comes off (even against the lowly ponys it helps build) - carty gets a bigger thrill out of setting up others than getting the final glory himself
Yeah I noticed that. Looks like he's having that "It's all about me" attitude gradually driven out of him. Different positions but gee there are some similarities between Carty and Hayne. Both talented to the max. What's great, unlike Hayne most of the time, we saw glimpses of a team first mentality with Bryce last night. Man management is definitely BAs strength.
Once we are at full strength we may see a rotation happening amongst our top 30 form permitting. I guess young Arthur and his fellow elvers will have some outstanding talent amongst them at stages this season. That's part of the plan to support them being fast tracked I would suggest.

Won't somebody think of the defence??!!? Against the good sides we'll need Matterson next to Moses.
Papalii next to Moses has been working just fine. The one time Matterson and Moses defended on the left together for a whole game they got a little carved up by the shithouse Broncos.

The bloke bleeds blue and gold. Literally throws his body into every thing he does. Plays with a heart the size of pharlap and because hes doing what some people around here think is heresy ie negotiating a new contract. He's become disposable and even unwanted.

Nrown deserves much more respect from the fan base than he is receiving ATM.
I'd rather keep him, for the reasons you've given, but he isn't in our top three middle forwards. He might even be behind Niukore by now. As an outsider I couldn't say how good his leadership is, but without it he's worth about $400k imo. How much extra is his leadership worth? He's not really very experienced. I just don't see him as an elite player. There's certainly plenty I'd be more disappointed to lose.

I kind of struggle with the fact Nrown held our team together at stages over the past years. Now we have options a plenty I'd hate to see him disrespected and driven out. No player has given more in recent years. I do understand the club's position however and truthfully it's the professionalism we have craved for so long.

He is f**king great. Hope he stays.

I agree, bench management was very good last night. Good to see what Carty can do.

My favourite though was Marata. Gee what a beast he was with those punishing runs. I reckon the opposition would hate tackling him. We have the makings of a very intimidating pack.

I know this season we have NSW cup, but I’d like to see BA continually give players a run (resting players) and use his bench like last night. Not a fan of middle forwards playing 60 minutes and two bench players only getting 5 minutes each week.
An earlier poster queried BAs over use of Rheed. It is a genuine concern although this has been countered by @emjaycee re the plan to use Roach. If this is in fact the plan I'm loving it. Rheed was a tad off his best last night even though he made Ennis orgasm regularly. We need Rheed at his best if we make the finals and overplaying him will threaten that.

I'd suggest we would've been carved up worse with a lesser defender at left edge forward. Matterson is our best in that regard.

The 'big pay day' these long serving players want is generally provided by a move to a weaker club. Unless the player is truly elite you won't see the strong clubs sacrificing cap space just to reward their service. It's a business.

If Nrown really wants to stay he'll get an offer. If he wants to cash in he might have to leave, but that ship may have sailed. Don't forget he's 28 and only played 107 NRL games. His WPYSA18 is only 5.4 ffs

An extra 50k.. Cowboys just threw 800k a season at Chad.. Moses could get a billion compared to him...

Actually, Townsend is a terrific half-back. He's far more consistently influential to his team than Moses has ever been; his best game is on par with Moses' (although a very different style); and the difference between his best and worst game is not as great as Moses'.

Id say Moses has a higher ceiling ... But also a lower floor .... Chad is a good solid half ... And a sensational head of hair

I do not understand why people are saying that Marata should go back into the forwards. Next year, sure; but not this year, surely? Are we expecting Waqa Blake to come back a different player? Why on earth would you automatically put him back into first grade? Because he's fast? His defence is outstandingly poor, and his 'attack' is erratic at best. I wouldn't have him anywhere near first grade. I don't care how much he cost or how long his contract is for - just cut our losses and leave him in reserves or try to off-load him.
