Judicial charges just released

no Eels charged.

Tupouniua for roosters charged and will miss next week even with an early plea.

You'd imagine they'll contest and he'll get off.

Roosters don't get suspensions.

Good to see no penalty for Ice. I think the ref on the field made considerably more of it than what had actually occurred. Probably worth a penalty, but I don't think it was worth a charge, or even being on report.

I think the change is more about defence, but admitting that would draw drama from league journalists.

EELS COACH: "MOSES CAN'T TACKLE!"

How about there is 8 minutes to go and we're leading 32 to 10 with a big game to come this week.

We've just taken the captain off, but needed to leave the half back on, so let's stick him at fullback in defence where this is very limited chance of him picking up a random injury late in a pointless part of the game.

Because it's hot performance enhancing?

Even though we almost caught out with the quick dropout, how good was Marata’s f**k you after Seeyoumanafunguy’s hit on Lane

Agree with a lot of what you’ve said. But since his debut has he gotten any better? Seems the same player, May of even stagnated

Yup. Thats the worry. But like i said a bloke who is about to turn 21 has plenty of time on his side. I can’t predict how he is going to turn out but i dare say, if he wants to improve, which i think he would, he will.
Id prefer a young half to gradually improve than to be a flash in the pan for 3 years like T Smith.
Maybe the excessive defence is killing him, not making excuses for him im just thinking of reasons.
Time will tell i guess.

Maybe I am missing something. I think its possible he will come good. Just like Mahoney. But at this point I have not seen anything in his game for me to be confident that it will happen as he matures and ages.
He maybe a slow burner. Plenty are opposite. Brooks,Seizer,Taylor all looked like stars and where flushed out. So if I had to evaluate D.Brown I'd be sitting on the fence a little. Where will he be in 3yrs time? Perhaps he evolves into one of the top 5 halves in game. But at same time if he was flushed out of NRL completely I am unsure if I would be surprised. At this point I'd lean on the most likely scenario being that he will b a solid and serviceable half. Not a superstar but a higher level then Chad Townsend but perhaps not Moses level.

Fair enough, mate.

I definitely see your point.

Personally, I see a lot of great potential in Dylan Brown, and the fact he isn't even 21 yet, and is still doing a "serviceable" job, is very encouraging.

Obviously, you have freaks like Nathan Cleary, or Sam Walker, who just blossom right from the start.

But tbh, Brown is a better defender than both, and I'd argue a better runner of the ball, too.

I could be way off base, but I am confident he will improve.

What was encouraging for me to see last night was when Brown made those errors, he was furious - he obviously cares. He just needs needs apply himself mentally more.

It's more about the type of half he will be. The best comparison is with one of the more physical halves like Foran, Pearce and Munster. Even Cronk was like that early on. As they learn the game and improve their execution they can become massively valuable to a team. But early on they're mostly contributing through speed, strength and work rate.

.
I reckon Brown's running game is overated. He runs a lot (averages 106m a game) but rarely breaks the line. He just takes hitups.

Nathan Cleary actually averages 111m a game. Has twice as many line breaks as Brown too. His running game is better.

Cleary makes a couple more runs per game than Drown as well. Also handles the ball far more often, so has more opportunity to run when there's space. A lot of Drown's runs are digging into the line when the pass isn't on.

Cleary still has the better running game.

I reckon a big reason why the pass isn't on is because the defence is jamming as soon as Drown has the ball. They are giving no room to him nor his edge back rower and are happy for him to take a nothing hitup. Drown only seems to have a short ball which he likes to give to his edge back rower but oppositions are prepared for it (they jam in). Teams know that he can't throw a long money ball left to right with any confidence or consistency so they compress on him. This is why he doesn't have 1 LBA in 7 games of football.

It amazes me that Gutho has been written off as an origin option for nsw. I’d have him at centre long before Wighton who has been rubbish. It’s better for us in the long run though.

anyone find it interesting that Moses went to fullback when Gutho came off?

Gutherson is not a very good centre: not a very good winger. His best position is fullback, but there are better options currently. I would actually consider him for 14 for NSW.
