I think the backline at full strength will be 2.) Sivo 3.) Penisini 4.) Blake 5.) Simonsson and rightfully so.
Yep most likely although does Russell force his way in ?

His injury lay-off probably means no but I don’t think he’s far off beating simo or sivo to a wing spot

maybe he can be bench option

We made 1697 m panthers 1624, however the panthers wingers / centres made 682 m ( happy to be corrected) of that compared to our 354……no wonder there middles have more energy for defence , better line speed…

We are definitely missing Blake / Sivo, they improve us in this area…

That is why they were even in the game. If we had that type of go forward like the Panthers back three we would of blown them out of the water. We were awesome last night. The way we endured our lack of go forward and absorbed their pressure enough to till the tide turned our way was very impressive.

This team just needs some luck injury wise and some better coaching for when plan A goes to sh*t. If we can manage that we are more then capable of winning it this year.

I tell you the biggest difference compared to last week was attitude which showed in our defence.
We have no issues getting up for the big games it's when we play a mid table or lower ranked team he seem to not have the same motivation to perform.
The scary thing is last night Moses was quiet, didn't run much but still did most of the kicking, was he one of the 5 who had the flu most of the week or did kikau running at him most of the night tire him out?

I agree although not CPI based but by whatever % the salary cap has increased (so he takes the same % of the cap that he does now).
Unfortunately, I am not sure that will be enough to keep him and that is if we do make an offer. My earlier mail before his current purple patch was that we might not be keeping him.
Hard to see we could afford to loose him now that Marata and Paps are going. He's adding some x factor to our team at the moment.

We have become the winning streak breakers in recent years.

Beat Melbourne on a 19 game winning streak. Penrith on a 11 game winning streak and a 21 game streak at home.

And since BA has taken over in 2014 we have been the 1st team to beat the defending premiers in the following season 4 times in 9 years.

Souths - 2015, Round 4
Cowboys - 2016, Round 2
Storm - 2021, Round 2
Penrith- 2022, Round 9

And a lot of good that has done us. We need to go on a consistency backend of season winning streak for any of it to count.

Absolutely i am sick hearing from people that we overachieve as a team. Its a load of BS. To give yourself the best chance to win a comp you have to finish top 2.

And that means winning 19-20 games in a season. If you can stand up and withstand the best Melbourne and Penrith can throw at you then we should be on par with Melbourne and Penrith on the ladder.

Agreed, and there is no one of his quality on the open market. How many blokes can play as good in the middle and slip straight in on an edge and score like he did?? If we looooose him it will be almost the Paulo and Reg show next year.

they really are

Pou mentioned during the game .... look how many merkins they get in EVERY tackle - not just floppers - 3 merkins smashing the ball runner and driving them backwards

I think its a combination of great fitness and strength

It's also helped big time having the back 3 make over 600m. Keeps the pack of tackling hounds nice and fresh when in many sets only 2 or 3 runs a made by the forwards.

BTW is Perham still not a first grader? Thought he was OK last night.
Should be a utility off the bench that can cover the backline for an injury when everyone is back.

We only use 16 players most weeks anyway.

Got no idea why we bothered re-signing cartwright if we simply dont trust him defensively outside of a 10 min stint at the end of the game if the match is over. BA wont use him otherwise.

Yeah its frustrating you could put down last week's performance to a mid season holiday in tough conditions against a team acclimatised.

But I would have thought playing the Tigers on Easter Monday which was close to a sell out game at home celebrating 75 years in the top grade should have been a game to get up for.
