By the way, I like this backline for next year:

1. Burt
2. Hayne/Reddy
3. Inu
4. B Smith/Reddy/Hayne
5. Grothe

I dont want to see Luke tossed back on the wing like he is just filling a spare position. He is a true clubman and after career best form at Fullback this year, he deserves to keep his spot.

The 10 year exemption is 100,000 and can be applied to the four players but only to the total of 100,000 rather than per player.

Currently but likely to change as it is under immense pressure from clubs and supporters that like seeing retention of players.

end of next year..but management are apparently working on him now. ;-)
Good to hear :) he didn't see much ball on Sunday, but when he did he looked very impressive.

yeah, that's a part of his game that he needs to fix when he goes into big games, he is a very talented kid with a very menacing presence about him but just went missing the other day.

He killed it in the games leading up to the grand final though..

I have to agree Pete...
Hayne should realise he might just be a better winger than he is a fullback and IMHO that is actually true regardless of where he prefers to play.

He could actually develop into one of the first wingers chosen in NSW and Australian test teams for the next 10 years and could take home Dally M winger of the year for the next 10 years too. He has the speed, chip and chase and footwork as well as finishing ability and strength to be the best specialist winger of the last 20 years (in fact I cant think of another specialist winger with that much skill). He needs someone inside him like Inu and some premierships will no doubt come his way.

Not sure the big $$ on offer at Souths (rumoured to be on offer anyway) will see him continue to represent and the list of fullbacks in front of him for SOO and Test matches is getting longer. Stay on the wing and stay at Parra Jarryd - easy decision.

Irrespective of where he plays for Aust or NSW, he'll still be probably guaranteed a spot on the wing if his form holds up.

e.g the chosen wingers for Australia are a 5/8th and a Fullback.

If he is one of the top 5 backs, he'll make it somewhere in the team.

For '08, Burt at FB unless he loses form and then Hayne to take over.

Give Tony another season in Premier League and he will be a better player for it.

I think Wentworthville are looking very promising for the PL title next year.

Burt should start at fullback next year no doubt. IMO Jarryd didn't show nearly enough to get the starting position. Very excited about the other resignings too.

I'd like to see this:

Burt
Grothe
Inu
Reddy / Tautai
Hayne
Finch
Smith T
Smith B / Robinson
Hindmarsh
Mateo
Moi Moi
Riddel
Cayless

Marsh
Cordoba
Hauraki
Paulo
Wagon

Ben to move to the forwards next season.

Eric to play outside Kris. We could be looking at 90 metre tries from kick returns with that combination.

Joel to have first crack at centre but TT will be ready sooner than later IMO.

Burt must play FB - I know Hayne was brilliant there after some tome growing into it but the main factor is that you lose a lot more by putting Burt to wing than by putting Hayne there.

stoked about the retention of our juniors... had never seen either Mannah or Tautai play before but I'm glad I got the opportunity on Sunday to knock back some cans and marvel at our young stars.
Would hate to see Burty or Moi Moi in any other colours tbh... I think the both of them will be Eels for the majority of their careers and will continue to bring pride to the blue & gold.

Correct me if I'm wrong buddy, but I'm sure you were arguing against Ben Smith moving to the forwards mid season.
Also, you were saying what a crap buy Ian Hindmarsh was, and weren't picking him in your team.
Not sure if you still think that.

I think from the Broncos game and through the finals, Jarryd Hayne showed enough to keep the fullback jersey. He was killing melbourne until he got that knock. Burty on the wing and give him a bit of a roving role....hell, he can even swap occasionally with Hayne.

I also think Ben Smith would be eaten alive offensively in the forwards.

i don't think ben smith is a good option for the forwards

and i think Burt would be wasted on the wing -
1) he is the best support player in the team
2) his experience and talk from fullback was outstanding
3) he provides a great alternative kicking option
all of these would not be part of his game if he had to stand out on the wing

and all of these are the reason he had his career best season before being injured. Wing is not Burts best position or in the best interest of the team.

Maybe if we'd had a decent coach he may have ended up there earlier. ;-)
