I'd give Mannah and Tatuai a year in that under 21s comp then bring them into first grade for 2009 :D

Maybe if we'd had a decent coach he may have ended up there earlier. ;-)

I have to agree Pete...
Hayne should realise he might just be a better winger than he is a fullback and IMHO that is actually true regardless of where he prefers to play.

He could actually develop into one of the first wingers chosen in NSW and Australian test teams for the next 10 years and could take home Dally M winger of the year for the next 10 years too. He has the speed, chip and chase and footwork as well as finishing ability and strength to be the best specialist winger of the last 20 years (in fact I cant think of another specialist winger with that much skill). He needs someone inside him like Inu and some premierships will no doubt come his way.

Not sure the big $$ on offer at Souths (rumoured to be on offer anyway) will see him continue to represent and the list of fullbacks in front of him for SOO and Test matches is getting longer. Stay on the wing and stay at Parra Jarryd - easy decision.

Yeah, never mind the fact that he was dominating as a fullback at the end of the season, he should button his lip and make way for Luke f**king Burt, eh?

You're kidding, I'm glad some of you fluffy forum posters aren't running the club, we wouldn't have moved foward at all in 10 years. Good clubman or not, Luke Burt is not in the class of Jarryd Hayne, at all, no matter what anybody here says, Hayne is lightyears ahead of Burt.

I'm not disappointed that Burt is staying, but if Jarryd Hayne leaves then Burt will cop the blame for me, not Jason Taylor or Russell Crowe. I read in the paper about Crocker volunteering to take a paycut to keep Clint Newton at the Storm, that's being a good clubman, not holding back the younger and better players like Burt will be doing if he doesn't step aside and let Jarryd play his rightful position.

LOL - the world is full of maybes however I prefer to take what is in front of me and use it rather than look behind.

Burt is our best fullback and Jarryd is one of our 2 best wingers. Simple really :D

Correct me if I'm wrong buddy, but I'm sure you were arguing against Ben Smith moving to the forwards mid season.
Also, you were saying what a crap buy Ian Hindmarsh was, and weren't picking him in your team.
Not sure if you still think that.

Suity

Gees you give it to him Suity.

But how do you know burt hasn't taken a pay cut to stay here.

I agree with pdj, Hayne is a super star of our game, Burt is just a solid first grader. If we loose Hayne now i'll be absolutely pissed!

He's just had his best season ever so I doubt he took a pay cut, but I'm talking about playing fullback, and negotiating a long term extension while our two best young players are still coming off contract.

Why is fullback Jarryd's rightful position and not Lukes?

Rightful – adjective
1.having a valid or just claim, as to some property or position; legitimate: the rightful owner of the farm.

2.belonging or held by a valid or just claim: one's rightful property.

3.equitable or just, as actions or a cause.
4.proper; appropriate; fitting

Is it Jarryd's right to be fullback because he wants to?
Or is it because you want him to?

Why didnt Jarryd get Fullback of the Year, Test Selection at Fullback or Origin Selection at Fullback?

I get it, let's chuck Burt onto the wing where he was ineffective for a number of years and put Jarryd Hayne who is seen by all selectors as one of the best wingers in the comp into fullback despite the fact that he got Rookie of the Year playing on the wing last year.

While we are there, why not make sure Inu never plays anywhere other than on the wing as well cause that is where he was most effective this year (despite being a Test fullback).

You're a twit.

Nah, I love the Big Fella. Really. He makes a lot of sense almost all the time.
That's why those two opinions stuck in my mind. Just thought they were odd at the time. But as I said, they were just opinions. TBH, I think he was right the first time with regards to Ben Smith, and wrong with Ian Hindy.
God knows, I think I changed my mind once.

I wouldn't have Ben Smith over Chad either. Chad is a blue collar worker

i love the chad, hits hard in defense, has a good offload, good hit and spin plus a very low error rate

Do all the resignings have to hinge on what Hayne is doing in 2009?
He wants to watch out or he'll be left without any bickies. I am very confident Jarryd will resign with the Eels. If he doesn't - tough luck...How's the old song go?
"Got along without before we met you, gonna get along without you now"
Agreed Pete if he can't see the potential this teams has, and is only after the $ at the ripe old age of 19 then maybe he needs to move on, in saying this though I really do hope he stays, though I think it is looking more unlikely as he hasn't announced anything yet what's the hold up he would have made his mind up surely by now.

While I agree that Hayne is a better player than Burt I don't understand how you can "blame" him for anything. The players do this for their living so if the club is willing to offer him a 3 year deal he would be crazy not to take it.

If you disagree with the retention policy you should blame the decision makers not the players.

RJ i think parra will move heaven and earth to keep Hayne but if people have been in his ear and offering him the world or what not than he will hp people are saying in this forum if we let him go they will be pissed, but if a player want's to move on and his mind is made he will move on not matter how crazy the decision may be.

I agree with u jaycee, I think Hayne should look at the big picture and if he plays FB in 2 to 3 years so be it, FFS he is only 19 most of us would give our left nut to be in his position.

All in all I actually think we went better when we lost Big Ben Smith. He is a good club man and everything but we need the speed and lateral movement in the backline and Ben just doesnt have this. Personally I would love to see a

As for Hayne - I would like to keep him but not at the expense of the entire club.
If he wants to go - let him go.
